By Jim Donaldson Taylor Price, a third-round draft choice in 2010 out of Ohio U., has joined Chad Jackson (second round, 2006) and Bethel Johnson (second round, 2003) on the list of disappointing wide receivers drafted in early rounds by the Patriots. Price, who was released Saturday, appeared in only three games in two years with New England, catching just 3 passes for 41 yards -- all coming in the final game of the 2010 season against the Dolphins. Not since drafting Deion Branch in the second round in 2002 have the Pats picked a wide receiver in the early rounds who has made a significant contribution to the team. They've done better in later rounds, selecting the versatile Julian Edelman -- who caught 37 passes as a rookie in 2009, has been outstanding as a punt returner, and this season has moved to the injury-riddled defensive backfield -- in round seven out of Kent State, and special teams star Matthew Slater in the fifth round in 2008.
