One thing the Houston Texans and New England Patriots seem to be able to agree on is that New England's blowout of Houston last month should not be taken as a predictor of Sunday's matchup. And Patriots coach Bill Belichick has anecdotal proof. In 2010 his team clobbered the New York Jets late in the regular season, then lost to the Jets in the divisional round of the playoffs. "I think there's certainly a lesson there about the game that we play now doesn't have much to do with the game we played before," Belichick said Sunday. "It's another example of that. We've talked about that many, many times here, before and after the 2010 season. I don't think it's anything that wasn't mentioned until that situation occurred but it's an example we can point out." When the Patriots and Texans met Dec. 10 in Foxboro, Mass., it was supposed to decide who was the best team in the AFC. It certainly was decisive, as the Patriots won 42-14, but the Denver Broncos ended up being the No. 1 seed in the AFC, so the Patriots are once again at home against the Texans with something to prove. For the Patriots, it starts with convincing themselves the first meeting with Houston didn't prove anything. "We talked about that many times before, how other games don't have anything to do with this game. It stands on its own," Belichick said. "That is and always will be the case, but it's an example to point out of how little relevance the previous game with the same team really does have."
