The Patriots have agreed to a contract extension with kicker Stephen Gostkowski. Ian Rapoport of the Boston Herald reports that Gostkowski received a four-year extension that averages $3.5 million per season, and includes $5 million in guarantees. Gostkowski’s deal will keep him in Foxborough until 2014.
A fourth-round pick (118th overall) out of Memphis in 2006, Gostkowski was selected to replace Adam Vinatieri. Gostkowski is 103-for-121 (85.1%) on field goal attempts during his career, and has steadily improved his depth on kickoffs, posting a career-high 21 touchbacks during the 2009 season.
