Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll told the NFL Network that many of his players, including cornerback Richard Sherman, wanted to run up the score on the 49ers this past Sunday night and put up at least 50 points. Carroll said Sherman was pleading with him. “He wasn’t the only one,” Carroll said. All the Seahawks needed to do was score another touchdown and go for a two-point conversion. “Guys were kidding about it,” said Carroll. “We were just going to finish the game, it had nothing to do with that. But some guys were asking the question whether or not we would go for two if we scored again.” I’m sure it was really tempting for Carroll to score as many points against the 49ers and head coach Jim Harbaugh because of the time in which Harbaugh attempted a two-point conversion when he was the head coach of Stanford and his team played Carroll and the USC Trojans when both men were college coaches.     Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document...

  • The headline is misleading. No where does Pete say he was tempted to run up the score. Only that players lobbied for it.

Pete Carroll’s Cocky Strut Is The New Henne Smirk

The Seahawks trounced the 49ers, but Pete Carroll didn’t run up the score as much as he could have, so I suppose that counts as a win for civility and a triumph of the holiday spirit. Though at one point in the second half, Carroll was spotted on the sideline after a Seattle touchdown, grinning and strutting like he just plowed the homecoming queen. No reason why he shouldn’t...

Pete Carroll: No Seattle players involved in Monday night club shooting

An unidentified man in Seattle was killed during a shooting at a crowded club on Monday morning where several Seattle Seahawks were attending, according to police, via Greg Rosenthal of NFL.com. Carroll said players were in the club after the team's win Sunday night over, the San Francisco 49ers. "From what we know our guys were in a separate area and nobody was involved...

Seahawks crush 49ers, make playoffs

As the noise grew, coach Pete Carroll looked up through the rain at the deafening home crowd fueling the blowout his Seattle Seahawks were putting together on the field. After three seasons of breaking down and reconstructing the Seahawks roster, Carroll doesn't have a team that is just going to the postseason. His club reinforced the notion that no one in the NFC wants to see...

Seahawks to Harbaugh: Happy birthday — that's what you get

Seattle Seahawks thoroughly enjoyed their 42-13 victory over the San Francisco 49ers Sunday night. Second-year cornerback Richard Sherman wanted to continue the Seahawks two-week trend of scoring 50 points on opponents, telling Yahoo! Sports, "I'm not gonna lie to you, I told Pete, 'Let's score and go for two.' He said, 'We have more class than that...

Report: Richard Sherman Claims Leaky Collection Cup to Blame for Postive Performance-Enhancing Drug Test

Richard Sherman may just get out of his four-game suspension after all. The Seahawks’ cornerback has been fighting his ban for a violation of the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug policy for almost a month now since word came down on Nov. 25 that he and teammate Brandon Browner failed test. Sherman is claiming the cup that contained his urine sample was leaking, which forced the...

Richard Sherman reportedly has interesting defense for PED suspension

Richard Sherman and fellow Seahawks defensive back Brandon Browner faced four-game suspensions after testing positive for PEDs last month. Both players initially planned to appeal their suspensions, but Browner decided to drop his appeal and sit out Seattle’s final four regular-season games. Sherman is proceeding with his appeal, and he reportedly has a very interesting defense...

49ers-Seahawks Live Blog, First Half

Two stout defenses with mobile QBs in their first year of starting? I’ll be shocked if Peter King doesn’t drop a Xerox of Fate reference during the pregame. The Seahawks can still overtake the Niners and take the NFC West title should they win tonight and next week and San Francisco also drops its final game, however unlikely it is that the 49ers drop their Week 17 game against...

With a primetime thrashing of the 49ers the Seattle Seahawks have served notice to the NFC playoff field

As a football fan base we have a tendency to overreact to the outcome of primetime games - with that said, Seattle’s statement victory over San Francisco should be viewed as a very significant development heading into the post-season.  Seattle remains undefeated at home and they are currently riding a four game win streak into their season finale. The three most recent games...
