Peyton Manning got a new toy in receiver Wes Welker, but he still wants his original slot receiver Brandon Stokley to return.
Manning and Stokley have one of those read each other’s mind type of things going on, and Manning feels there is plenty of room for the 15 year veteran.
The well traveled Stokley has been with 5 teams in his career, including two stints with the Broncos.
The duo spent four years in Indianapolis where they developed a rapport and reunited in Denver in 2012.
“I think it’s well documented how I feel about Brandon as a player and a friend, and with the kind of season he had last year, I would still like to play with him,” Manning said, via Michael David Smith of Profootballtalk.com.
“In a perfect world I would love for both of them to be on the team this year. . . . Stokley is a great friend of mine, and as I’ve said all along, he’s always been one of my favorite teammates ever to play with.”
“I hope it’s not necessarily a closed door,” he said. “We added some players late in the offseason last year.”
