Defensive end Trent Cole is the latest member of the Philadelphia Eagles to appear on the NFL Network’s countdown of the top players of 2012. Cole was named the 57th best player in the league by his peers.
Teammate and fellow end Jason Babin expressed admiration of and appreciation for his teammates’s talent, saying “he just goes so hard.” Babin stated that he and Cole are in competition every Sunday and “fight over [getting to] the quarterback like a couple of hyenas.” LB Jamar Chaney and WR Jeremy Maclin also spoke about Cole’s talents.
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith has been one of Cole’s prey and he expressed admiration for his opponent, calling Cole a “dominate” and “really underrated” player.
Cole played in 14 games in 2011 and had 41 tackles and 11 sacks.
Known for being an avid hunter, comparisons between Cole’s hobby and profession were made throughout the segment. The closing line on Cole? “It’s always open season on someone.” Nice.

Demetress Bell confident, getting comfortable with new Eagles teammates
The offseason for the Philadelphia Eagles in March was quiet, calm, and everything was going well. Until news that Pro Bowl LT Jason Peters had ruptured his Achilles, that is.
Philadelphia’s offensive line was set to finally have continuity in 2012, which would have served to strengthen the foundation laid in 2011 . Peters and the rest of the o-line were no small part of what led...
Eagles OTA notes: McCoy didn't want to 'act the fool'
PHILADELPHIA -- The Eagles eliminated a potential major training camp distraction last week when they signed running back LeSean McCoy to a five-year, $43 million contract extension that includes nearly $21 million in guaranteed money. McCoy, one of the league's top backs, was in the last year of a rookie contract that would have earned him just $615,000 this season. Last...
How will Eagles’ linebackers line up this season?
There might not have been a more publicly shamed group than the Eagles’ linebackers last year. Poor linebacker play became the poster child for the failure of the so called “Dream Team” last year as the Eagles, widely projected to win 12-13 games, won 8 and missed the playoffs. The Eagles, who have always notoriously devalued the linebacker position, have spent a lot of focus...
Eagles' Hanson: Every man for himself in CB competition
PHILADELPHIA -- With his 31st birthday fast approaching, Eagles cornerback Joselio Hanson has been promised nothing other than a chance to win the job he has held for the better part of the last six years. Signed out of NFL Europe in 2006, the 5-9, 185-pound Hanson has been one of the league's better nickel corners the last six years. But he heads into the spring OTAs needing...
Is Linebacker DeMeco Ryans All The Eagles Need?
The steal that brought DeMeco Ryans to Philadelphia felt too good to be true. Every Eagles fan—every NFL fan—will tell you the glaring hole in Philadelphia’s defense was the linebackers.
In fact, if five more third down runs were stopped in the entirety of last season, the Birds would have made the playoffs. But every team has a similar sob story.
But was bringing in...
The Eagles are primed for a bounce back year but title run is on Vick’s shoulders
Want one team that missed the playoffs last year but is bound to crack the postseason in 2012? Look no further than the Philadelphia Eagles.
After opening their checkbook last season for free agents Nnamdi Asomugha, Jason Babin, Cullen Jenkins and Ronnie Brown, a lot of pundits just assumed that the Eagles would win the NFC East. But the team lost four of its first five games and...
Philadelphia Eagles Fantasy Football Projections
QB Michael Vick (Philadelphia)
I’m projecting a down year across the board for Vick once again. He proved last year that his performance against Washington in 2010 was a fluke. I expect him to regress back to close to typical Atlanta passing stats, where he never went over 3000 yards passing, only once threw more than 16 touchdowns and averaged 13 interceptions per game from 2004...
Brandon Graham: Right now, I’m a bust
When Brandon Graham was picked 13th overall in 2010 by the Philadelphia Eagles, Graham looked like a productive edge pass rusher in a scheme that gives players like that a lot of opportunity. Because of injuries, he hasn’t gotten those opportunities. Graham played in just 16 games over his first two seasons thanks to a [...]
Philadelphia Eagles OTAs: Nnamdi Asomugha and Demetress Bell Settle In
Wednesday marked the second day of OTAs for the Philadelphia Eagles, which end on Thursday. The past two days have provided some interesting comments from players and observations from those in attendance to the practices.
-Contrary to head coach Andy Reid’s comments that Jamar Chaney would miss all team activities until training camp, Chaney was there with his teammates...
Philadelphia Eagles 2012 Power Rankings
Even though it’s only May, it’s never too early to start up some early predictions for the 2012 season. After seeing how the Eagles closed the 2011 season on a four-game winning streak and what they’ve pulled off so far in the offseason, it’s hard not to think good things for the Eagles next year.
Over the past two months, the Eagles have made quite the splash. From...
Balancing optimism with the mundane in Eagles' voluntary OTA's...
Our own commentator emeritus GK Brizer says it best--- what you can conclude about a team's prospects for a new season based on what happens in voluntary OTA's amounts to just about nothing...After all, it's a controlled environment with no real oppositional contact and a lot of feel-good-about-ourselves emotion in play.Still, you can get a general feel for the willingness...

2012 NFL Off-Season Rumors: Could Jeff Garcia Make a Return to the Philadelphia Eagles?
Jeff Garcia has had some memorable moments in his NFL career, mostly for his times as a starter in San Francisco and his amazing comeback with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2006 as a back-up. He also started for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2008. Since then, Garcia has had a tough time trying to hold a job as a quarterback in the NFL. He was brought in to be a backup with the Oakland...
