Philadelphia Eagles head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder spoke to the media on Monday and about the extent of Jason Kelce’s knee injury sustained in Sunday’s game against the Ravens. The question at hand is how much time out of action is on the line for the offensive lineman.
Kelce had an MRI on Monday that revealed a partial tear to his ACL and a total tear of his MCL. The MCL component of the injury carries a recovery time from four to six weeks. The real question, though, is the ACL, which will determine Kelce’s fate for the season.
The center will undergo a diagnostic orthoscope on Tuesday, which will determine whether he will have season-ending surgery or if the plan will be to have Kelce rehab and play for the remainder of the season with a brace after the 4-6 weeks needed for initial healing.
