Asante Samuel is still a Philadelphia Eagle, for now.  However, is it more because he wants to remain with the Eagles or because they simply can’t find a trade partner? It’s no secret that Samuel is on the trade market as we’ve known that since last year.  Many people, myself included, fully expected him to be dealt by now or during the draft at the latest. Photo: content.usatoday.com However, maybe Samuel doesn’t want to be traded at this stage of his career.  Or, perhaps he is clearly overvaluing himself which is therefore ruining potential deals with other teams.  Or, even yet, it’s quite possible he is purposely sabotaging trades because he doesn’t want to go to the teams the Eagles were in trade talks with. Finally, maybe he just wants to force the Eagles’ hand to either keep him and pay him his $9.5 million this season, or release him so he can become a free agent and control his destination. Those are a lot of maybes, but there has to be some reason a trade hasn’t happened ye...

Philadelphia Eagles 2012 Draft: 2nd and 3rd Round QBs Have a Low Success Rate

If the Philadelphia Eagles are thinking about drafting a quarterback in round two or three of the 2012 NFL draft, it might behoove them to reconsider that idea. I posted this a few weeks ago but it’s worth repeating since the buzz about the Eagles drafting a QB early is gaining steam.  Dan Pompei of the National Football Post reported recently the following: A buzz is building...

Report: Eagles have been shopping Asante Samuel

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Philadelphia Eagles have been shopping cornerback Asante Samuel around the league, before next week’s NFL draft. Samuel only allowed 10.2 yards per  catch, a quarterback rating of 52.4, and surrendered only 296 yards, per ProFootballFocus.com.  It’s clear he still has plenty of goof football left in him.

At this point the Broncos don’t believe they’ll be able to get a deal done to land Samuel after making multiple proposals to the Eagles. The Broncos offered the Eagles their 5th or 6th round picks in next week’s draft for Samuel...

2012 NFL Draft: Philadelphia Eagles Trade Down Scenarios

There have been multiple rumors about the Philadelphia Eagles trading up in the 2012 NFL draft, but what about the idea of trading down?  After all, the Eagles’ track record in trading up hasn’t exactly been stellar over the years. Even though trade-ups for players like Jerome McDougle and Antone Davis didn’t work out, I still think the Eagles should be aggressive in this...
