OTAs, training camp, preseason, and final cuts are all behind the Philadelphia Eagles today.  The final cuts did include some surprises.  Mike Kafka lost his job due to stellar play by both Nick Foles and Trent Edwards.  Joselio Hanson was released, an apparent sign from the Eagles front office that they are trusting the young cornerbacks already on the team.  All four running backs are still Eagles today which came as a surprise to many.  But just as quickly as all this news came, the Eagles are just seven days away from a road game against the Cleveland Browns.

Cleveland is not expected to have a winning season.  They are starting a rookie quarterback, a rookie running back, and are largely in rebuilding mode.  This game should not challenge the Eagles too much, but this is the NFL and a road game.  It will be interesting to see how Michael Vick's rib injury affects him during the game.  Will he protect himself and slide?  That question will come up this season as the high expectations for this team largely fall onto his back.  The defense looked great throughout the preseason, but at times the run defense was still suspect.

The players are off this Labor Day Sunday, but you can bet the coaches are preparing for the Browns.  The Eagles will need to shift their focus towards an actual opponent and get ready to play for REAL Sunday, September 9.

Later this week Eagles101 will break down the game in further detail.
