In the final part of our "Philadelphia has good coaching" series, I figured I would save the most controversial for last.  Our final piece is on the one and only, Andy Reid.  Now before you click the "x" in the corner of your screen, hear me out.

As we all know, Andy doesn't know how to use timeouts.  For some odd reason, Peter Laviolette can use just one timeout perfectly, yet Reid can't handle three every half.  At least he answers questions at his press conferences, right?  In all seriousness, Reid does A LOT of things wrong, but let's put all of that aside and look at the positives.

Andy Reid was hired as the Philadelphia Eagles Head coach back in 1999.  Reid spend his early coaching career as an assistant coach to the Green Bay Packers.  After spending some time in Green Bay and drawing some attention, the Eagles hired Andy. Reid's first year, the Eagles finished a disappointing 5-11, but the next few seasons is when the Eagles came alive.

The 2000 season brought Philadelphia a 11-5 record, but the New York Giants ended our season in the NFC Divisional game.  The 2001 season the Birds also registered an 11-5 record, this time they were eliminated in the NFC Championship Game to the St. Louis Rams.  The very next season, Reid brought the Eagles to a 12-4 record, which they again lost in the NFC Championship game to the Tampa Bay Bucanneers.  The 2003 season also brought a 12-4, but yet another NFC Championship game defeat, this time to the Carolina Panthers.

In 2004, Reid and the Eagles finally made it over the hump.  That season, the Eagles finished with a 13-3 record and advanced to Super Bowl XXXIX.  Unfortunately, this city is yet to see a Super Bowl parade as they were defeated by the New England Patriots, 24-21.  The next time the Eagles made it back to the NFC Championship game was in 2008, where they lost to the Arizona Cardinals.

In the 13 seasons Andy Reid has been here in Philadelphia, he has a 126-81-1 record, ask McNabb about that "1".  Reid has the best winning percentage (.609), most wins (126 and counting) and playoff victories (10) in Eagles history.  Andy has 6 division titles, 5 NFC games, and one Super Bowl appearance in his tenure here in Philly.

With the young Eagles team that Philadelphia has, Reid can be the reason why this could be our year, but he can also be the reason why it may not be.  Whether you were one of the people chanting "Fire Andy" or not, you have to admit, he is a good coach.  Reid can do a lot of things wrong, but he also does a lot of things right.  With that said, Andy Reid's clock is ticking here in Philadelphia. The fans and the organization have become restless with Andy Reid, and unlike Charlie Manuel and Doug Collins, majority of the city doesn't like Reid.  In the words that he made famous, this season Reid has "got to do a better job".
