Punters and Kickers are usually ignored because in the eyes of most, they do little in the sport of football. That is why there are some that squawk (Mike Vanderjagt, Chris Kluwe and Jay Feely) and some who choose to take in the anonymity. And then there are people like Thomas Morstead. The Saints punter was the last year’s NFC Pro Bowl representative for the position, thanks to his 50.1 yards/punt. Also garnering attention is his rock star-esque ‘do. But as part of a St. Baldrick‘s charity event in New Orleans, he decided to let his hair go, via Game On, and be an ordinary-looking guy again. He was joined by a hundred other guys for the shave-off, which aims to benefit the quest to fight cancer. Shaving heads for fund-raisers is not a unique phenomenon, as recently, the Tampa Bay Rays held their “Fortune Favors the Bald” campaign for the Pediatric Cancer Foundation. Kudos to Thomas for joining the fight, lending his name to a fighting campaign.

Saints punter shaves head for charity

Thomas Morstead had a simple identity. He was an NFL player with hair down to his shoulders so that he looked like he could have been playing bass in a Scandanavian metal band. But the New Orleans Saints punter found a cause, and on Saturday had it all cut off in order to raise money for a children's cancer charity called the St. Baldrick's Foundation. Morstead got the...

Saints Nation: Saints' Current Cap Situation

It was reported after the contract restructures by Jonathan Vilma and Will Smith just prior to the offseason starting that the Saints were somewhere around $8.5 million under the salary cap. Enough room to add some talent but likely not make a massive splash in free agency. Since then, the Saints have signed Justin Drescher, Keenan Lewis, Ramon Humber, Ben Watson, Will Herring and...

Saints rumors: New Orleans could target Dwight Freeney

If the New Orleans Saints miss out of free agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com wouldn’t be surprised to see the team target defensive end/outside linebacker Dwight Freeney. Don't be surprised when #Saints emerge as a player for Dwight Freeney, especially if they miss on Nnamdi. Still trying to upgrade pass-rush — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) March 25, 2013...

Saints entering the Dwight Freeney sweepstakes?

We just reported that the Broncos and Dwight Freeney haven’t ramped up their contract talks yet. Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network wouldn’t be surprised if the Saints also make an attempt to sign Freeney to upgrade their pass rush. It looks like both teams are looking to add Freeney for purely pass rushing reasons.  He’s not a good fit in a 3-4, but can wreak havoc on third...

Report: Saints “pushing hard” to sign Nnamdi Asomugha

We reported over the weekend that free agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha is still trying to decided whether he’s going to sign with the Saints or 49ers. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Saints are “pushing hard” to sign Asomugha. The Saints secondary got torched by opposing offenses last year and clearly believe Asomugha can help them out despite his poor play...

The Loss Of Keenan Lewis Won’t Be Felt Until After 2013

We all thought that the Pittsburgh Steelers top priority this offseason would have to be re-signing unrestricted free agent CB Keenan Lewis. Obviously that wasn’t the case as Lewis signed a five year contract with the New Orleans Saints and Lewis said his farewell to Steelers’ fans on twitter via Dave Bryan of Steelersdepot.com. According to Lewis, the Steelers never offered...
