FF Locker Room:
TE Michael Palmer, formerly of the Seattle Seahawks, has been claimed by the Pittsburgh Steelers and will most likely provide another body in training camp.
Tunnel Vision: The former Clemson alumni has been bouncing around all off-season but may have finally found a home as the Steelers are hurting big time at the tight end position. Both David Johnson and Heath Miller are sidelined with knee injuries and their other option, Matt Spaeth is also nursing a foot injury.
Palmer is a solid blocking tight end who could break camp, but isn’t guaranteed anything. The only thing going for him is the onslaught of injuries to the Steelers. Even if he makes the 53-man roster, Palmer will not have any fantasy football value.

Now that it looks like Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Matt Spaeth will be lost for the season with due to a Lisfranc injury, the tight end position really got a lot thinner than it already was. Mike Tomlin most certainly won’t be the last head coach the Pittsburgh Steelers have as one day his time in the Steel City will come to end. It’s just not the Pittsburgh Steelers way to use a ‘backfield by committee’ and running backs coach Kirby Wilson won’t lend any credence to it. Wilson wants a running back that can play from first down through third down – point blank. That’s why when the Steelers match up against the New York Giants, RB Le’Veon Bell will get the rock early and often.
Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette now reports that Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Matt Spaeth has Lis Franc sprain and is expected to be out 8-10 weeks. This doesn’t sound like it will end his season like the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported as being possible, but the Steelers might be forced to use the injured reserve [...]
