The Pittsburgh Steelers announced their training camp schedule for the 2013 season. They open training camp on July 26 at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. The Steelers will be going into camp this season with many questions to answer. Will the offense improve and will the defense be able to continue playing at high level with their aging players? The Steelers will be undergoing many growing pains this season especially on the offensive side of the ball. They will have to adjust to new starters at the running back and wide receiver positions. The Steelers will also have to worry about quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and if he will be healthy enough for camp after undergoing surgery in the offseason. The Steelers start training camp with two new back up quarterbacks in Bruce Gradkowski and rookie Landry Jones. The potential of the Steelers offensive line is the biggest story of the training camp for the Steelers. The offensive line will be coming back together and a year older will be one of the stronger points of the Steelers this season. The Steelers defense is one of the oldest in the NFL and at the same time was the best in the league last season in yards allowed and was number one against the pass. This is very important in a NFL that is becoming more and more pass happy and more teams are throwing the ball close to 45 times a game. As long as they keep the same system in place that they have been playing for the past few years then the Steelers will still be a dominant force on defense even with their aging players. For fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers when training camp starts there will be 16 practices open to the public. The Steelers will host their first preseason game against the Giants on August 10 at Heinz Field. That is when we will get to see the Steelers and they will show us either that they are ready to be a powerhouse in the NFL again or they still have more rebuilding to do.
