The Steelers will be going into camp this season with many questions to answer. Will the offense improve and will the defense be able to continue playing at high level with their aging players? The Steelers will be undergoing many growing pains this season especially on the offensive side of the ball. They will have to adjust to new starters at the running back and wide receiver positions. The Steelers will also have to worry about quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and if he will be healthy enough for camp after undergoing surgery in the offseason. The Steelers start training camp with two new back up quarterbacks in Bruce Gradkowski and rookie Landry Jones. The potential of the Steelers offensive line is the biggest story of the training camp for the Steelers. The offensive line will be coming back together and a year...

ANY/A Passing Stat As It Relates To Ben Roethlisberger & Steelers History

Over the years several people have tried to develop a stat that best measures how good a quarterback is. The passer rating is still used today, but since its development we have moved on to yards per pass attempt, net yards per pass attempt and adjusted net yards per pass attempt. If you read Pro Football Reference regularly, you probably know by now that net yards per pass attempt...

Asking “Who’s the Most Important Pittsburgh Steeler in 2013?” Brings Up more Questions than Answers

Right now the NFL is sitting in the dead-zone of the off-season. We have effectively ended all off-season moves and news, but haven’t yet gotten to training camp. Therefore, most media and blogs, including us, are looking for any and everything that we can discuss until the news starts coming in again. One of the big topics that has been going around the last few days is the following...

Pittsburgh Steelers: Thoughts on playing in London this season

This season the Pittsburgh Steelers will play their first ever game in London, England. The game will be played at Wembley Stadium and they will be hosted by the Minnesota Vikings. The NFL has been playing games in London since 2007 and this year the black and gold get to represent themselves in London. Recently Pittsburgh Steelers’ quarterback Ben Roethlisberger took a visit to...

Former Steelers DL Chris Hoke To Be Coaching Intern This Year At Training Camp

Former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Chris Hoke announced on Wednesday that he will be a coaching intern for the team this year at training camp. Hoke, who originally signed with the Steelers in 2001 as an undrafted free agent out of BYU, played 11 seasons in Pittsburgh before retiring in January of 2012. "I'm going to do a coaching internship with Coach Mitchell...

The Pittsburgh Steelers Most Underrated Moves of the 2013 Off-Season

The Pittsburgh Steelers had a typical off-season again this year. Their bigger moves were the ones that had to do with players leaving the team. James Harrison, Keenan Lewis, Casey Hampton, Max Starks, Rashard Mendenhall and Mike Wallace are all gone and a lot of young players are on the verge of playing much bigger roles for the team. Even though the team didn’t make any big moves...

No Vacation for Roethlisberger… On Vacation

For those of us fortunate enough to be able to go on vacation, we know why we like to go vacation don’t we? The general idea is that we get away from our normal lives and the everyday grind and we go relax somewhere. Maybe we go hiking or golfing or just simply do something that makes us feel good like lay on the beach for 10 hours a day. Thus the idea of vacation! For Pittsburgh...

Ex-Steeler sued by bouncer over injuries he suffered during a bar fight

According to the Associated Press, a bouncer from a Pittsburgh bar is suing former Steelers offensive lineman Chukky Okobi after suffering injuries during a brawl.  Okobi ended up getting fined $100 for his part. Okobi was originally charged with five counts of simple assault after several people confronted him when he argued with his girlfriend at a South Side bar on Aug. 25...

Healing Of Troy And The Youth Movement To Come: A Look At The Steel Curtain Defensive Backs

In 2012 Polamalu battled injuries and only managed to start in 7 games, recording 34 total tackles, 1 sack, and 1 interception. Polamalu battled a nagging calf injury all last season, nothing new for Troy as he has been ravaged by injuries throughout his career. I guess 10 years of hitting like he hits does take its toll on the body. Polamalu’s aggressive style is what has made...

Steelers 2013 Training Camp Schedule Announced

In just a little more than two weeks from today, the Pittsburgh Steelers will report to Latrobe for training camp. Despite preparations being behind at St. Vincent College because of all the rain the area has had recently, the college is still expected to be ready on time to host the Steelers for a 48th consecutive year. Steelers.com released the complete training camp schedule...

Pittsburgh Steelers Training Camp Battles: Jarvis Jones vs Jason Worilds

Arguably the biggest off-season move for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2013 was the loss of James Harrison. Harrison and the Steelers could not agree on a pay-cut for the veteran linebacker, which led to his release. Harrison, now a member of the Cincinnati Bengals, will play his old team twice a year and has left a large hole to fill on the Steelers roster. That task of replacing...

CB Cortez Allen excited for opportunity to start: ‘Anybody who plays the game of football has dreams of one day being a starter’

The Pittsburgh Steelers selected CB Cortez Allen in the fourth round, 128th overall in the 2011 NFL Draft. Before the draft, analyst Mel Kiper considered Allen a "sleeper." The team's first intentio was to use Allen in the slot on nickel downs, and bring in William Gay to man the outside opposite Ike Taylor. However, the Steelers think Allen could have enough...

Chris Burke Of SI Thinks Safety Is An Improved Position For The Steelers

By Jeremy Hritz The season previews for NFL teams continue, and the most recent one regarding the Pittsburgh Steelers comes from Sports Illustrated online by writer Chris Burke. Burke previews the entire AFC North for the 2013 season and has some unique takes on what he sees as the weaknesses and strengths of this year’s edition of the black and gold. While Burke doesn’t come...

Somebody Has To Fill Harrison’s Shoes At Right Outside Linebacker For The Steelers

By Matthew Marczi Even though he may not have been given the biggest contract out of those who left the Pittsburgh Steelers this year via free agency, James Harrison was certainly the greatest. Mike Wallace may have gotten $60 million from the Miami Dolphins—and that is fair market value for his services at his age in today’s NFL—it is unlikely that he will ever be as great...

AFC North: July stock watch

Cincinnati Bengals, FLAT: The Bengals, like the Steelers, have all the appearances of a well-rounded football team. The only difference is that Cincinnati is also better rounded when it comes to age. If Andy Dalton makes the leap from "solid" to joining quarterbacks like Ben Roethlisberger and Joe Flacco in the second tier, the Bengals could surprise a lot of people with...
