During the 2012 preseason there will be certain players that we'll go back and specifically watch for during the games, trying to get a feel for who will help this team in 2012, and who needs to go home. Prior to the first preseason game against St. Louis, I shared eight players that I would be watching during the game, all eight of which will be reviewed extensively on Colts Authority, along with several other players. The previously reviewed players are listed here:
Jerrell Freeman George Foster
The wide receiver battle is one of the more interesting competitions going on in the Colts' camp this year, with a few young, potential enriched players who are fighting for the final spots.
Two of the favorites for that spot are Kris Adams and Quan Cosby.
The two players are polar opposites, Adams a 6-3 receiver with elite speed (ran a 4.31 at his pro day in 2011) and Cosby a 5-9, slot/possession type of receiver. Adams has been mentioned by the reporters in camp nearly eve...

Thoughts:
Joe Reitz is back where he belongs at left guard, and Jeff Linkenbach is back where he belongs at backup right tackle. Those positions are where the two played on Sunday, despite last week's listing.

Players We Watched: LB Jerrell Freeman
Last week, I shared a list of eight depth or backup players that I would be watching during Sunday's preseason game. This week, we'll be taking a look back at those players to see how they did, as well as highlighting several other standouts from Sunday's game.
First up is inside linebacker Jerrell Freeman, who got into the game early for Kavell Conner on passing downs...

Antoine Bethea Awards: Under the Radar Players Who Made Key Contributions
This year after each Indianapolis Colts game, Colts 101 will hand out our “Antoine Bethea Awards.” These awards are named after the Colts safety whose hard work made him a Pro Bowler despite being drafted in the sixth round.
These players are critical for winning teams. They are guys who don’t arrive with the pomp and pageantry of a Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck, but work...
Indianapolis trying to fill holes at linebacker
Nobody on the Colts expected the change in defensive schemes under new coach Chuck Pagano to come without a few bumps - just not this many this quickly.
Over the past two weeks, Indy's linebacker corps has taken three big hits.
Backup A.J. Edds, whom coaches expected to play a key role this season, tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during a non-contact drill...
Injury Update: Colts LB Pat Angerer to Miss Six Weeks, Scott Lutrus Done for Season
And so it continues.
The Colts‘ linebacking core already took a hit when rotational inside linebacker A.J. Edds tore his ACL earlier this offseason.
Now, the linebackers are hit with two more blows.
First, Scott Lutrus joins Edds and G/T Benjamin Ijalana with a season ending ACL tear. Lutrus may or may not have made the team, but any time you lose an asset for the season, especially...
Donald Brown Is The #1
I love free Nike swag Juan…
Donald Brown took a screen pass 63 yards for a TD in the Colts preseason opener and it looks as though he will be a top the depth chart. I expect him to be part of timeshare in Indy with either Carter or Ballard, or both. Brown could see 200 plus touches as long as he can stay on the field on passing downs, which gives him a leg up as the Colts may...
Colts Owner Jim Irsay Presses Luck with Recent Tweets
As if being the first pick in the 2012 NFL draft and being the successor to Peyton Manning doesn’t put enough pressure on a player, how about throwing a slightly over-excited owner into the mix to really ramp up the pressure? During Sunday’s Indianapolis Colts first preseason football game against the St. Louis Rams, team owner Jim Irsay decided to take to twitter to make his...
Colts fans, keep your expectations under control
Andrew Luck was impressive in his preseason debut, there’s no denying that. But Indianapolis Colts fans may be taking their praise a little too far.
According to Derek Schultz, who hosts a radio show on WNDE in Indy, callers have talking about a potential trip to the playoffs in 2012, or even a Super Bowl run.
Back-to-back calls with one listener predicting a Colts’ Super Bowl...
