The Seahawks signed Chris Baker as a free agent with the idea of getting Carlson off the line of scrimmage and out into routes.In terms of his receiving skills, Carlson is a B-plus to an A-minus among NFL tight ends. As a blocker, though, he's about average.Now, that is not a condemnation of Carlson so much as truthful diagnosis of his skill set. He is diligent and hard working and he's sought to get stronger to improve his blocking, but that's never going to be his strength.By moving him into the slot, the idea was to accentuate his strengths.
