Trend Setters Well, Seattle fans, we’re just about halfway through the season and the Seahawks are currently looking like the team they thought they would be before the season started: NFC Championship and Super Bowl contenders. Sure, there might have been a few tough wins along the way — at Carolina, at Houston — but for the most part Seattle is everything we expected them to be. They’re tough on defense, Marshawn Lynch is still a bulldozer, and Russell Wilson always seems to find a way to put points on the board. Yet there is still much more to learn about this squad, especially with Percy Harvin nearing his debut for the Seahawks. Will Seattle’s offense continue to improve week by week and will Harvin make them truly unstoppable? Will the defense continue to get after the quarterback with the depth they have on the line? With some questions answered about this Seattle squad from their first seven games and plenty more to be answered in the coming weeks, here’s a prediction of how the rest of the Seahawks’ contests will go this year. at St. Louis – October 28, 2013 Sam Bradford is out, the Rams haven’t looked awful on the ground, and their defense also lacks as well. Don’t expect the Seahawks to have any problem on the road in this one as the fans of St. Louis will likely be paying more attention to their Cardinals in the World Series. Prediction: Win vs. Tampa Bay – November 3, 2013 This game could be laughable, as the Buccaneers have looked just awful so far in 2013. Look for a blowout in this one. Prediction: Win at Atlanta Falcons – November 10, 2013 Before the season started this game had the makings of what would be a pivotal contest in the race for NFC dominance. However, the Atlanta Falcons haven’t exactly looked like the great team they were last year. While all their losses have been close ones (they haven’t lost one game by more than a touchdown), they have failed to impress in their wins and will be without Julio Jones against the Legion of Boom. Will Wilson and the Hawks get revenge in Atlanta? (David Goldman/AP Photo) It will still be a tough test for the Seahawks to hit the road for an early game by their standards, but expect Seattle to get revenge for the loss the Falcons handed them in the playoffs last year. Prediction: Win vs. Minnesota Vikings – November 17, 2013 The only thing funnier than the Minnesota Vikings are the Jacksonville Jaguars. Blowout. Prediction: Win vs. New Orleans Saints – December 2, 2013 Looking to be one of the top games of the year, this Monday Night Football contest will likely have big implications in deciding who may have home-field advantage in the NFC Playoffs. While the Saints and Drew Brees have been tearing it up through the air, it’ll be tough for them to get any kind of rhythm going against the 12th man and the Legion of Boom. Look for the Seahawks to win this one in a close contest that will come down to one of the final drives in the game. Prediction: Win at San Francisco 49ers – December 8, 2013 A short week for the Seahawks, especially one in which they will have just bruised themselves up on Monday Night, may spell for a letdown in San Francisco. Though Seattle has had the 49ers’ number in their past two games, San Fran is looking like a much-improved squad and will give the Seahawks hell at Candlestick. I hope I’m wrong, but I think this will be Seattle’s second loss of the year. Prediction: Loss at New York Giants – December 15, 2013 Unless they turn things around quick (and they won’t), the Giants will still be at the bottom of the NFL when the Seahawks come to town. Expect Seattle to look for a huge bounce-back game after a close loss to the 49ers. Prediction: Win vs. Arizona – December 22, 2013 Nothing doing with Arizona. Prediction: Win vs. St. Louis – December 29, 2013 This will likely be a ‘get healthy’ game for the Seahawks as they look to ease into the playoffs and get ready for a big push.
