Found October 15, 2012 on The Colts Authority:
There was a plethora of things that went wrong on Sunday afternoon.  You don't lose 35-9 against a team with serious issues becuause of a few lucky breaks. The Colts lost because they have multiple issues on both sides of the ball, in coaching, and they had a few unlucky bounces.  One of the most noticable issues the Colts had against the Jets was their complete inability to get anything going in the ground game. The Colts should have had a chance to get something going on Sunday, but they never did.   First, the Colts should have been able to run at least a little bit this week.  Before this game, the Jets were allowing 4.9 yards per game and over 170 yards per game in the rushing column. Football Outsiders gave the Jets a 0.1% run defense DVOA, 22nd in the league.  Last week, against a Green Bay defense that has been statistically better than the Jets against the run all year, the Colts had their best running game all year, as Donald Brown was able to run 17 times for 8...

Indianapolis Colts try to stay #CHUCKSTRONG in week 6 vs. Jets

The Indianapolis Colts try to maintain the momentum gained after last week’s stunning upset over the Green Bay Packers as they meet the New York Jets Sunday at MetLife Stadium. It was as emotional a win as any you could imagine for the Colts, whose head coach Chuck Pagano is battling recently diagnosed leukemia. It is up to interim head coach and offensive coordinator Bruce Arians...

Indianapolis Colts get beat down by Jets 35-9

The Indianapolis Colts came into this week riding the high of a rousing 30-27 victory over the Green Bay Packers in Indianapolis that week.It didn’t last long. The Colts were run over (quite literally) by a truck bearing the license plate “GREENE.” As in Shonne Greene. The Jets running back, who prior to today had failed to register a single 100 yard game this season, trucked...

Armstrong: Respecting the Rookie

It seems like the league's worst 2011 team is becoming the feel-good story of 2012; Kevin Armstrong, who writes for the Jets, has a great article on Andrew Luck, maybe the most complimentary I've seen on the Colts's QB. Luck is a 6-4, 234-pound rookie capable of throwing from all angles with uncommon touch. Already able to identify his progressions and reads, he is...

Andrew Luck and the Colts could be the team that starts Tebow-Mania in New York

Last week Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts played extremely well against the Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers. On the last 2 minutes of the game, Andrew Luck led his team down the field for the win. This week they will face a team who has their backs against the wall in the New York Jets. There has been tons of drama over the past couple of weeks with Sanchez and Tebow...

Column: Fun times for NFL rookie quarterback crop

(Eds: With AP Photos.) By TIM DAHLBERG AP Sports Columnist Andrew Luck's first working trip to New York didn't exactly go to plan, though some punishing defense by the Jets had a lot to do with that. All part of the learning curve for rookies, who sometimes have difficulty understanding that big second-half comebacks can't be pulled off every week in the NFL. The leap...

Almost Instant Recap: Colts 9, Jets 35

Today, the Colts came into East Rutherford, New Jersey with high hopes and expectations against the Jets after last week’s furious and emotional comeback victory over the Packers.  Many have wondered what this team can do if they put together two halves of the kind of football they played in the second half against Green Bay and in the first halves against Jacksonville and...

Brunner: Colts got Grounded and Pounded by the Jets

The Colts-Jets game was frustrating to watch, but we're going through with some links anyway. Conrad Brunner of 1070 The Fan broke the game down in his Hot Reads column, and in his earlier quick recap and box score.    It was eerily similar to the season-opening 41-21 loss in Chicago, as the Colts were plagued by shaky play from rookie quarterback Andrew Luck (two interceptions...

NFL Week 6: New York vs Indianapolis Recap

Tactical Tuesday: New England Patriots Ground Attack

After dismantling the Indianapolis Colts and their rookie quarterback Andrew Luck, the Jets prepare for their bi-annual showdown against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.Anyone who has a pulse knows the Patriot's offense is effective, to say the least.  The Patriots were (and currently are) ranked in the top 10 in scoring in the past eight seasons, including 2008, when...

Indianapolis Colts at New York Jets: Five Things We Learned

"GROUND AND POUND!" "GROUND AND POUND!" This should be the New York Jets new mantra. A slogan to play by, to live by, TO WIN BY. The author of this article had a funny feeling about this game. In fact, the only prediction that was WAY OFF was the final score.Jets 35, Colts 9 I did, in fact, anticipate a blowout. I also assumed (incorrectly, it seems) that Colts...

CHEERS AND JEERS: COLTS 9 JETS 35 FINAL

There was plenty to cheer about during Week Six as the New York Jets snapped their two-game losing streak and secured a convincing win over Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

5 Reasons Why the Colts Have Been Inconsistent

I can’t remember a season that saw more ups and downs than this one.  Forget week to week, the Colts’ Jekyll and Hyde routine often happens in the very same game, one moment looking like world beaters, the next seemingly unable to tie their cleats.  It’s been nearly remarkable. So what’s the cause?  Why have the vicissitudes of this particular season proven so fantastically...

Quit playing for the FG

As a football fan, I see this every week.  And, every time, it drives me crazy.  A team will have 3rd and manageable either inside the Red Zone or close to it, and what do they do?  They’ll call a run into the line, and they will play for the FG.  Consider this an open letter to football teams.  Here’s what I’ve seen in just the last few weeks:   Jacksonville v. Indianapolis...

Fantasy Football Week 6 Preview: Colts at Jets

Indianapolis Colts @ New York JetsIndianapolis:  The Colts come off of a stunning and emotional upset of the Green Bay Packers in Week 5.  The question is, with all that emotion from coach Chuck Pagano’s diagnosis poured into a herculean effort to defeat Aaron Rodgers and the Packers, do Andrew Luck and the Colts have anything left in the tank for a vulnerable Jets team? For...

Preview And Prediction: Colts (2-2) @ Jets (2-3) No matter how…

Preview And Prediction: Colts (2-2) @ Jets (2-3) No matter how many outsiders call for Tim Tebow to take over as the New York Jets’ starting quarterback, coach Rex Ryan is standing behind Mark Sanchez. Andrew Luck showed last week why the Indianapolis Colts have plenty of confidence in him to guide the franchise’s rebuilding. Sanchez and the foundering Jets look to get on track...
