QB Jake Plummer was in Denver yesterday, throwing the football to upcoming NFL draft hopefuls. According to the Denverpost, Plummer was throwing to clients of Denver trainer Loren Landow. The paper reports that Plummer would likely return to throw footballs again later this spring. Plummer’s appearance in Denver quickly led to speculation that he might be planning a comeback to the NFL. Plummer dismissed that idea. Speaking with CBS4, Plummer responded when asked about a possible comeback, “To be honest with you, my heart’s not in it.” That is not a surprising response from a player which simply up and walked away from a once promising NFL career. Plummer’s rights were acquired by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2007 from the Denver Broncos. Rather than join a Buccaneers team, then coached by Jon Gruden, Plummer chose to retire and take up playing professional handball. Plummer was 32 at the time of his retirement.
