Cuts: RB Evan Royster, RB Lache Seastrunk, RB Chris Thompson, WR Lee Doss, LB Everette Brown, CB Chase Minnifield, S Phillip Thomas, PK Zach Hocker, WR Nick Williams, OL Maurice Hurt, WR Lee Doss, OL Tevita Stevens, S Da’Mon Cromartie-Smith, NT Robert Thomas, CB Richard Crawford, TE Ted Bolser, OL Kevin Kowalski and P Robert Malone. Most Surprising Cut: Lache Seastrunk Seastrunk was in the midst of camp’s most intense position battle, and he came up short, getting beat out by Silas Redd, an undrafted free agent. Both players had their moments throughout the preseason, but it’s always surprising to see a draft pick get cut so quickly, especially when they have as much natural ability as Seastrunk. Expect the Redskins to try and sneak him onto the practice squad, but that may not be as easy as they hope. Most Surprising Non-Cut: Kai Forbath Forbath was really bad last season. He ranked near last in the league in almost every kicking statistic. He’s one of the worst in terms of touchbacks, and he wasn’t much better this preseason. While Zach Hocker may not have been the best replacement, don’t be surprised if the Redskins pick up another kicker in the coming days. Biggest Question Raised: How quickly will training-camp standouts rise? Both Bashaud Breeland and Ryan Grant opened a lot of eyes this preseason, and now that they’re on the roster, the question becomes how long until they move up the depth chart and cash in on some real playing time. Grant is one of six receivers to make the team, and while the other five are all solid, if not great, players, it’s going to be hard to keep looking past Grant. Likewise, Breeland is one of five cornerbacks, but he simply lights up the highlight reel when he’s on the field. DeAngelo Hall and David Amerson probably have the starting spots locked down, but Breeland should be the Redskins’ nickel cornerback before long, if he’s not already. Remember… The moves and, more importantly, the cuts aren’t over. With hundreds of newly released players all over the league, there’s no doubt that the Redskins will do their due diligence in scouting for some possible pickups. If, and when, they do, that means that more players will have to be released. Check back in a week for the final depth chart. Follow Michael Jaycox at @MilkyMike Like this?
