Radio host claims Micah Parsons has 'worn thin' with Cowboys

Shan Shariff of Dallas sports radio station 105.3 The Fan dropped somewhat of a bombshell on Friday regarding how some within the Dallas Cowboys allegedly feel about star pass-rusher Micah Parsons.

"I've heard from way too many people this offseason," Shariff explained during the "Shan and RJ" program, as shared by the Audacy website. "I'm talking about at least four different people (have told me) that Micah has worn thin there. I don't know how much is true and how much it actually hurts (his reputation). I don't know whether this is the behavior of a typical superstar."

Former Dallas wide receiver Jesse Holley generated headlines when he said this past winter that Parsons "is probably the most selfish player on this football team" and "wants to be great for Micah" instead of for the Cowboys. According to Audacy, Parsons later insisted on his "The Edge with Micah Parsons" podcast that he's willing to do whatever helps the team win games.

"I don't how damaging it is," Shariff continued while speaking about Parsons on Friday. "But all I do know is this - I've heard from way too many people that if Micah Parsons was out of there, there would be a decent amount of people inside the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco smiling or breathing a sigh of relief."

Parsons earned Defensive Rookie of the Year honors for his play during the 2021 season and is a two-time First-Team All-Pro selection. Per ESPN stats, he finished this past regular season tied for seventh in the league with 14 sacks.

While Parsons still has two years left on his rookie contract, Jon Machota and Saad Yousuf of The Athletic mentioned earlier this week that the 24-year-old along with quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb will soon sign extensions or new deals. Shariff's information suggests Dallas could at least listen to offers for Parsons either before or after the 2024 season, but the radio host took to X on Friday afternoon to say he doesn't think Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones "would ever deal a superstar like" Parsons.

One wonders if Jones could experience a change of heart before the 2025 NFL Draft gets underway roughly 12 months from now.
