Coach Dennis Allen knows his second year has to produce results, one place the Raiders have an advantage is the draft. The Raiders coaching staff was selected to coach in the senior bowl and it gave them more access to players to evaluate. 2013 is an important year draft wise for the Raiders, Allen has to start molding this team to the image he wants, and that comes with good drafting. He feels coaching the senior bowl gave the Oakland coaches a head start at being able to talk and work with players that are on their draft board. Allen spoke from the NFL combine about his coaching staff's experience: "First of all, to really comment on the Senior Bowl, it was an outstanding experience for us, for our staff to be able to be there and see those players up close and personal and evaluate not how they play the game of football, but really what types of people they really are. Because when you look at the draft and you look at the challenges you face and why some people don't make it in the National Football League, a lot of times that's more to do with the type of person they are and what motivates them to succeed more so than it is just on athletic talent. So I think the ability to get to know those guys a little bit gives us some inside information and helps us make a better decision on draft day. I think, really, when you look at the draft, obviously everybody wants to have as many draft picks as you can possibly have. So it's a delicate balance of making sure you want to . . . you want to accumulate draft picks if you can, but at the same time you want to make sure you identify the guys you really want and make sure you get the guys you really want,” Allen said, via Matt Maiocco csnbayarea.com. var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});
