There’s a chance the Oakland Raiders could let punter Shane Lechler sign with another this offseason. The reason for this speculation is the fact that fellow punter Marquette king was placed on injured reserve.
Very rarely is a player placed on injured reserve when they were signed to only hold down a spot for a player that was out with an injury (like what King did for Lechler).
Lechler admitted he’s never seen anything like this before.
“Yeah, I don’t know that I’ve ever seen it happen before,” Lechler told reporters.
Lechler, 36, is in the last year of a four-year, $16 million contract, and keeping King around might be a strong indication that general manager Reggie McKenzie plans to let Lechler walk.
“It was frustrating for a little while because this is my job, and it has been mine for 13 years,” Lechler said. “You can feel how you want to about it. I took it a little bit personal early but after that I was like, ‘You know what? I can only worry about so...

Oakland Raiders running back Darren McFadden is having another injury filled season and every analyst is starting to bring out the bust label again. It started over the 2010 offseason when McFadden had two lackluster seasons in Oakland and McFadden showed them in 2010 he deserves the title of featured back. Then 2011 came in to smack him down again and 2012 has the bust haters coming...
Raiders punter Shane Lechler, 36, is in the final year of a four-year, $16 million contract signed in 2009 that made him the highest-paid punter in the NFL, Jerry McDonald of Bayareanewsgroup reports. He's scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent.
Coming into the season having had surgery on his nonkicking leg, Lechler has only of late begun to show the form that has made...
It sounds like the Oakland Raiders will finally give Terrelle Pryor a shot to play. Raiders coach Dennis Allen expects QB Terrelle Pryor to get playing time against the Chiefs. It’s the third straight week the Raiders have claimed they’re going to take a look at their No. 3 quarterback, but he’s yet to play a snap. Now entering a game where they may conceivably compete, Pryor...
Auditions for the 2013 Raiders are underway. Coach Dennis Allen has made it clear that while every effort will be made to win the last three games of the season, there will also be a heavy emphasis in seeing some of the younger players to see how they fit into the club's future. For that matter, the veterans will be watched closely as well. The two most notable veterans...
Two weeks ago, it looked like Rolando McClain’s days as a member of the Oakland Raiders were over. After being held out of two straight practices, many believed that the former 8th overall pick in the 2010 Draft was about to be released. The Silver & Black instead decided to suspend the linebacker due to “conduct detrimental to the team”. [...]

Pryor reportedly has a “set of plays to run” in both of the team’s last two games, but he was never brought into the game.
At this point in the season, the Raiders may as well see what the kid can do, given...

The Raiders’ only remaining home game right now is against the Chiefs and their last chance for a win, as they have to go to Carolina and San Diego and I can’t see them winning either of those games. I have them in the 31st spot because I think they lose to the...
