Special teams standout Taiwan Jones signed a three year $4.35 million dollar extension. Jones, a listed cornerback was drafted in the fourth round out of Eastern Washington In the 2011 NFL draft as a running back. Jones converted to corner back before last season in an effort to earn more playing time. With seasoned vets Darren McFadden and Rashard Jennings, second year man Jeramy Stewart and raved about rookie Latavious Murray, Jones had a slim chance of making the roster as a tailback. While spending most of his time on special teams instead if the defensive backfield, Jones became one of the best gunners in the NFL. Jones was a player that all of his teammates lobbied for to earn a trip to the Pro Bowl. While he wasn’t selected to the annual all star game, he promised the organization and fans that he would work even harder next season. As a Bay Area native, Jones now gets to continue his young career at home. A smart move by general manager Reggie Mckenzie to lock up a young player rather than letting him hit the open market. Reggie Mckenzie has a pocket full of money and it looks like he wants to take care of his own players who have earned a larger payday.
