It was bad enough for Arizona quarterback Kevin Kolb that Oakland's Tommy Kelly sacked him in the end zone for a safety.
What the Raiders defensive end had to say about Kolb after Oakland's 31-27 loss to the Cardinals Friday night probably hurt much worse.
''He is skittish. He is scared back there,'' Kelly said. ''Anytime anybody gets close to him he starts looking at the refs. As a defensive lineman you love a quarterback like that. He ain't even trying to look at the routes no more. He is paying attention to us and you ain't going to get nothing done like that.''
Kolb is fighting John Skelton for the starting quarterback job, and his night was a mix of good and bad.
Skelton, meanwhile, made the most of a brief opportunity. He took just five snaps, but that was enough for him to throw the first touchdown pass for either quarterback candidate this preseason.

The Arizona Cardinals have made a mistake in acquiring QB Kevin Kolb. The mistake has been made, the franchise overpaid for him and it’s simply time to move on now. I was going to give Kolb the benefit of the doubt last season as he joined the team in a very truncated offseason and dealt with some injury issues. After watching three Cardinals games this preseason, the fact is,...
Kevin Kolb isn't really that good. No, it's not because he royally messed with my fantasy football team last season. It's because his production simply hasn't been there, despite the quarterback receiving a nice payday from the Cardinals prior to last season. Raiders defensive tackle Tommy Kelly thinks there's some glaring reasons for Kolb's struggles at the...
Kevin Kolb’s preseason struggles continued on Friday night against the Raiders, and the Cardinals quarterback even had to respond to accusations that he’s playing “scared.”
Raiders defensive tackle Tommy Kelly ran off the field after tackling Kolb in the second quarter and said, “That boy’s scared,” according to Pro Football Talk.
Kelly elaborated after the game. ...
Defensive tackle Tommy Kelly believes that the Raiders defense isn’t the same one that finished 2011. The Oakland defense was 29th in the NFL in yards allowed and 31st in giving up touchdowns. New Head Coach Dennis Allen is installing a new system and Kelly likes what he has seen so far.
“To me, the biggest change is probably Dennis Allen and defensive coordinator Jason Tarver...
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb responded to criticism from Oakland Raiders defensive lineman Tommy Kelly, who said after Friday night's exhibition game that Kolb is "scared." Kolb was sacked three times, including once in the end zone by Kelly. "Anytime anybody gets close to him he starts looking at the refs," Kelly said. "As a defensive...
The Cardinals are struggling with a well documented issue. They still don't have a starting quarterback on their roster, and picking one from their current options is proving to be a true chore for head coach Ken Whisenhunt.
Kevin Kolb didn't help his own efforts last night, completing just 3 of 6 attempts for 22 yards, and oh-by-the-way, Kolb was safetied as well.
Oakland Raiders defensive tackle Tommy Kelly criticized Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb after the two teams met in an exhibition game in Glendale, Ariz., on Friday. "He is skittish," Kelly told reporters. "He is scared back there." Kolb completed 3 of 6 passes for 22 yards and was sacked three times, including one in his own end zone by Kelly. ...
During last night’s Cardinals – Raiders preseason game, Raiders defensive tackle Tommy Kelly yelled out during the game that Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb is scared.
Kelly had more to say about Kolb after the game.

Friday night was another night for Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb to prove he belongs in the NFL as a starter. Well, things didn’t go so well for the third straight week.
The good news is that Kolb didn’t throw any interceptions, but he was only 3 of 6 for 22 yards. Kolb had a hard time dealing with the pressure that the Raiders brought and he ended up getting...
GLENDALE, Ariz. -- We cant help but wonder if Kevin Kolb compared notes with the Raiders' Matt Leinart on Friday night at University of Phoenix Stadium. One presumed-then-deposed Cardinals starting quarterback advising another.
Theres no point in denying it anymore because theres no way to defend Kolb anymore in his struggle to keep the job for which he was acquired. There is...
Tommy Kelly rips Cards QB Kevin Kolb.
John Skelton will start at quarterback in Arizona's fourth preseason game Thursday.Fantasy Spin:Skelton's competition, Kevin Kolb, has been awful this preseason (5-of-15, 47 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT), leaving Skelton as the favorite to take the starting job. That bodes well for star receiver Larry Fitzgerald, who caught 42 passes for 753 yards and six touchdowns in the eight games...
It seems like a long time ago Kurt Warner led the Arizona Cardinals to their first Super Bowl when you look at the state of the team today. It also seems not so long ago that Larry Fitzgerald’s fantasy value was at the peak of his career looking at the team today. The Arizona Cardinals [...]
Would you keep doing this? This last weekend, after another starting perfor- mance that has left his team's fans wondering for the thousandth time whether or not Kurt Warner could be coaxed back into the NFL, Arizona Cardinals' starting QB Kevin Kolb had his courage questioned by Raiders' DT Tommy Kelly. Kolb fired back, and the snitfit was on. (And yes, I know that Kolb...
