Bay Sports Report:
After two seasons with the Oakland Raiders in which he was arguably the most dynamic playmaker for the team, Denarius Moore should have become the outright No. 1 receiver this season.
Moore was among team leaders in receptions, yards and average yards per reception during his first two seasons, but the start to his 2013 campaign has been anything but noteworthy.
He has only caught five balls for 43 yards and one touchdown during the first two games of this season, according to ESPN.
In a young and talented, yet unproven and unstable Oakland offense, Moore has to become the deep threat the Raiders have seen in the past – and he knows it.
“The coaches and the quarterbacks are always going to have faith in me,” Moore said to csnbayarea.com. “I need to get back in that huddle with a positive attitude.”
Despite lackluster performances since the preseason that included some dropped passes, head coach Dennis Allen insists that talent is not Moore’s problem but rather inconsistency and lack of self-confidence.
“I think everybody [gets down on themselves] if they don’t have success,” Allen said to csnbayarea.com. “The big thing is, he can’t get too down on himself. He’s got to continue to work and fight himself out of it.”
Undoubtedly, the Raiders will face tough times against the Denver Broncos.
The Broncos defense has allowed an average of 40.5 rushing yards during its first two games, which is ranked first in the NFL according to ESPN.
However, Denver is ranked 29th in passing yards allowed with an average of 344.0 yards.
Keep in mind though that Denver faced two Super Bowl winning quarterbacks during its first two games: Joe Flacco and Eli Manning.
Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor is talented and has shown promise, but it would be a very long stretch to say he is on the same level of the previously mentioned quarterbacks until he proves otherwise.
Although Denver has played against two exceptional NFL quarterbacks, the fact that its defense has given up so much passing yards is a telling sign and may be the small crack in the code the Raiders need to pull off the upset.
Rod Streater has been Oakland’s leading receiver with eight catches for 112 yards this season, according to ESPN.
Streater has been a consistent target for Pryor, but he alone cannot beat Denver’s secondary.
If ever there was a time for Moore to get things rolling and prove doubters wrong, Monday night against the Broncos may just be the time.
Moore has the ability to be a good receiver in Greg Olson’s offense, but sooner or later he will have to get over the hump.
The Raiders are hoping sooner rather than later.

Before this season gets into full swing, I have one PSA to deliver before the next tailgate or snap of the ball: there is only ONE nation in the NFL and that is the Raider Nation. Yes ladies and gentleman you heard me correct, the Oakland Raiders are the only football fans in America and around the World who can use this surname and serve it’s due diligence. Now of course there...
Note: nothing has been officially stated by the NFL yet about when/if the game would be moved. This is just using NFL history to predict what’s going to happen in a unique circumstance.
Round 1 of the MLB vs. NFL this season took place with the defending Super Bowl champions. Instead of getting to open their season at home on the first Wednesday of the season, which had been tradition...
The Oakland Raiders defense has been a pleasant surprise so far this season.
Even more surprising is that Oakland, at least for now, is ranked in the top-10 in passing yards and rushing yards allowed according to ESPN.
The Raiders are also tied at second place for sacks obtained with nine.
Granted, one of its games was played against the Jacksonville Jaguars who are ranked dead...
No one is giving the Oakland Raiders much of a chance to beat the Denver Broncos on Monday night. The Raider Nation should not be surprised by all the doubters. Remember when everyone said the Raiders had one of the worst rosters in history and they would be lucky to win one game? Yeah, I think those haters are all hiding in the bushes after seeing how good the silver and black...
Oakland Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie has heard the worst in the NFL label thrust upon his team time and time again. This year is no exception, but after going a promissing 1-1 to start the season, hope springs in the black hole that the Raiders might actually have a winning season. It's still way too early to tell, and McKenzie knows that.
Every year in Denver, a group of Appliance stores offer up to a million dollars in appliances to fans if the Broncos shut out the Raiders. The confidence is high in Denver for this to happen. Let's look ahead.
The Raiders will win if:
The Raiders need to blitz and blitz often. Peyton Manning is the best protected QB in the history of the NFL and it isn...
What up RaiderNation? Welcome to this week’s edition of My Two Cents, with your favorite old codger Raider fan, Old Timer. This past week, the NFL team rankings were released again, and this week the Raiders ranked 29th out of 32 teams. Yet the Raiders are 1-1 and the Panthers, the Steelers, Redskins, Vikings and Giants are all 0-2, yet […]
According to Scott Bair of CSNBayArea, Raiders linebacker Miles Burris is only a few weeks away from playing after undergoing offseason knee surgery.
Raiders linebacker Miles Burris was expected to be a major contributor this season. He hasn’t even practiced during an agonizingly slow rehab from offseason knee surgery.
But he’s just a few weeks away from playing football again...
In the regular season opener, Terrelle Pryor made all the headlines with his stellar outing against the Colts. Last week versus the Jaguars, the quarterback didn’t have to be as impressive to secure his first win as a starter for the Oakland Raiders, as the Silver & Black used a conservative offensive game plan, rather relying on the solid overall […]
Oakland rookie cornerback D.J. Hayden has never played against Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning. He figures the two will become well-acquainted Monday night in Denver.
Hayden is the youngest and least experienced member of the Raiders' defensive secondary, and that has made him a target for opposing quarterbacks.
Indianapolis' Andrew Luck sought him out repeatedly in...
The Oakland Raiders have ruled out tight end David Ausberry for Monday night’s game against the Broncos.
Jeron Mastrud and Mychal Rivera will both split time in Ausberry;s absence.
Ausberry is considered week to week with a shoulder injury.

The post Raiders rule out David Ausberry appeared first on Pro Football Zone.
Oakland defensive back Brandian Ross made a fairly smooth transition from cornerback to safety this past offseason.
Trying to stop Denver quarterback Peyton Manning? That's an entirely different challenge.
Ross was named the Raiders' starting strong safety Friday, ending a week's worth of speculation over how the team would compensate for the loss of injured Tyvon Branch...
Last week: 32
The Raiders won the total bowl last week. I originally had the Raiders winning just 1 game all season, week 2 at home for Jacksonville, but they have impressed me more than I’ve expected so far this season. Terrelle Pryor has faced two of the worst defenses in the NFL in his 2 starts, but he’s led this team to 6 times as many first downs as punts this season. Of...
Terrelle Pryor is just days from the biggest start of his young professional life. That’s what the hype machine says.
Monday night’s game against Denver is a chance for the young quarterback to anoint himself the next big thing and prove that his team is better than expected. If he can lead the Raiders to victory in Denver his stock will fly a mile high.
