According to Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle, the Oakland Raiders now owe former quarterback JaMarcus Russell $3 million due a settlement over his rookie contract. Russell was the team’s No. 1 overall draft pick in 2007, signing a 6-year, $68 million contract, and was waived in May 2010 after three unproductive seasons and weight issues. He had been paid $36.4 million and was still owed $3 million at the time of his release. The Raiders filed a grievance against Russell, seeking repayment of $9.55 million in salary advances, and Russell filed a grievance of his own, saying he was owed an additional $9 million. The Raiders’ grievance was based on their contention that the contract was changed at one point during Russell’s time with the organization. But the two sides were set to go to court recently, when a source close to the situation said the Raiders and Russell decided to settle. The Raiders declined comment. Russell’s new agent, Eugene Parker, was unavailable for comment. Russell’s previous agent, Eric Metz, told Yahoo Sports in 2010 that “The money in question was fully guaranteed. That is why JaMarcus was forced to hold out and miss all of training camp as a rookie.” Russell didn’t sign a contract until after the first regular season game of his rookie season. He started one game that year and then showed some progress in 2008 before he gained weight and coaches criticized his work ethic in 2009. As if things couldn’t get worse for the Raiders.  They already have $49.6 million of dead money for the upcoming season. Need NFL Tickets? Who Needs to Grow and Who Needs to go for the Raiders in 2013

This season, there’s quite a few Raiders who will have to prove their worth in order to continue donning the silver and black. Here’s a look at a few players in the hot seat. First and foremost, is running back Darren McFadden. Now, McFadden has what it takes to be an NFL star, but he has yet to play a full season. AFC West Over/Under Predictions for 2013

Back in April, I did a piece where I predicted the best and worst case scenarios from a record standpoint for all four AFC West teams. About a month later, Las Vegas released the over/under betting lines for all 32 NFL teams for the 2013 season. Today I’ll take a look at the win totals set by Vegas and give [...]

Why does everyone hate on Chris Kluwe?

Chris Kluwe has become one of my favorite athletes.  He’s not afraid to voice his opinion regardless of who likes it or not.  He’s been very vocal in the fight for equality.  Yet so many people seem to ignore him (like the 32 NFL teams)or chastise him.  Several radio hosts have said the reason Kluwe may not be signed yet is because NFL teams may not want to deal with questions...

Oakland Raiders to Pay JaMarcus Russell $3 Million this Year

JaMarcus Russell hasn’t played a snap in the NFL since 2009, but this is America. Where the American dream doesn’t make it a requirement for one to be working to get paid. This is the reason why even to this day, the Russell will be making a cool $3 million this season from his former [...]

The 2007 Draft Destroyed the Oakland Raiders

The NFL Draft is a spectacle for various reasons. At the draft, dreams are discovered, money is made, and the groundwork for the future of the NFL is laid out. But, all of that is minuscule in comparison to the entertainment supplied by each and every Oakland Raiders draft pick.  Building teams in the NFL is a lot like taking a test in middle school: you really have to try to...
