Taiwain Jones has struggled to make his mark in the Raiders backfield in the two years he’s been with the team. Jones has the speed to excel at the position but it sorely lacks the size at 5-foot-10, 197 pounds and has struggled staying healthy. And he’s also been firmly in the shadows of Darren McFadden and Mike Goodson (even Marcel Reece) on the depth chart. But now Jones is reportedly switching to the other side of the ball to play cornerback. From ESPN’s Bill Williamson: “I’m pushing for cornerback,” Oakland general manager Reggie McKenzie said Friday from the NFL combine. “I think it fits his skill set. I think we’re going to see how he does there.” Jones does have experience at the position. He played corner in high school and was recruited by Eastern Washington as one, which he played for his freshman season before switching to the backfield. In December, Jones hinted at the possibility of a future position change, via Vic Tafur: “I’ve thought about it a lot,” Jones said. “Rea

Oakland Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie mentioned that they will ask RB Taiwan Jones to move to cornerback next season, per Bill Williamson. “I’m pushing for cornerback,” said McKenzie. “I think it fits his skill set. I think we’re going to see how he does there.” It’s worth noting that Jones actually played some corner while at Eastern Washington, so the position isn’t...

Raiders should trade down in the 2013 NFL Draft

The Oakland Raiders will get to pick 3rd overall in the 2013 NFL draft, but with the immense depth of defensive linemen in this year’s draft; should the Raiders trade the 3rd pick to move down? The Raiders have a lot of needs including defensive tackles and defensive ends. That happens to be the position most draft experts see the Raiders taking with the 3rd overall pick, but...

Dennis Allen wants to learn from his mistakes: “The bottom line is you have to lead everybody”

Dennis Allen’s first year didn’t work out the way he wanted it to, but he’s willing to learn from his mistakes. In depth 2013: Oakland Raiders

The first year of the post Al Davis–era in Oakland ended much the same way as much of the previous decade – with the Raiders on the outside of the playoff picture looking in. After a promising 2011 saw Oakland hit the .500 mark, salary cap issues and a lack of draft picks caused the Silver and Black to take a large step back in 2012. Those same issues continue to plague the Raiders...

Dennis Allen Says QB Carson Palmer To Remain Raiders Starter In 2013

The media gets paid to dredge up controversy and they have done just that with regard to Carson Palmer and Terrelle Pryor. He was asked point blank if Carson Palmer was the Raiders starter...

Oakland Raiders 2013 Offseason Preview

Breathe in and breathe out. Breathe in and breathe out. It’s hard to even think about the chaotic state the Oakland Raiders are in without having to take relaxing deep breaths. Oakland is one of the few teams that finished in third place in their division, but is in a much uglier situation than the one team they finished ahead of. If you are telling me that you would rather take...

Raiders Could Be Parting Ways With DT Tommy Kelly

Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports that the Oakland Raiders are considering releasing DT Tommy Kelly. Kelly, 32, signed a seven-year, $50.125 million contract back in 2008. He has base salaries of $6.5 million in 2013 and another $7 million in 2014. As things stand right now, his 2013 cap number is $4.8 million, so it would make sense for the Raiders to free up some...
