Earlier this weekend the Oakland Raiders finally came to terms with their franchise player strong safety Tyvon Branch on a four-year, $26.6 million contract. The deal can reach a maximum value of $28 million in the deal.
A league source confirmed Saturday that the deal includes a $5.6 million signing bonus, and he will make $16.1 million over the next two years. Branch was set to count $6.2 million against the salary cap under his franchise tender and now under the new deal l he’s guaranteed $17.1 million.
Branch continues to be the full time starter for the Raiders, for the past three seasons he started all 16-games. Pro Football Focus currently has him as 20th best safety in 2011. In each of the last three seasons, he has shown to excel best in run support, collecting a total of 327 tackles and gathered at least 104 per season.
