Raiders should consider intriguing trade proposal involving former Pro Bowl WR

The Las Vegas Raiders keep decreasing Hunter Renfrow's workload, and it's about time for them to move on from the talented wideout.

ESPN's Bill Barnwell suggested Las Vegas should trade the former Pro Bowler and a seventh-round pick to the New England Patriots for WR Kendrick Bourne before the deadline on Oct. 31.

"When Josh McDaniels took over as Raiders coach in 2022, Renfrow seemed like an easy fit," Barnwell wrote. "It hasn't worked out that way. Renfrow struggled through injuries in a lost 2022 season, and after the Raiders signed Jakobi Meyers in March, they've buried Renfrow on the depth chart."

Renfrow has only logged six receptions for 59 yards on nine targets through five games. Meyers has established himself as the No. 2 WR behind Davante Adams with 25 receptions for 274 yards, the team's second-highest mark.

Swapping Renfrow for Bourne — who played under McDaniels in 2021 — would be a good move for New England. Third-year QB Mac Jones clearly needs more reliable targets since he's posted a below-average 40.2 QBR, 26th in the NFL.

Per NFL.com, Raiders offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi recently said Renfrow is still "a big part of the game plan," yet that's not the case. In a 17-13 Monday victory against the Green Bay Packers, he only played on 19 offensive snaps, his second-lowest figure this season.

It's clear that Las Vegas should place him on the trade block. Along with the Patriots, other teams looking to bolster their receiving corps might be interested in Renfrow, who recorded 103 receptions in 17 games in 2021. Furthermore, it's a low-risk move for suitors because his contract includes an out in 2024 ($5.508M in dead cap).
