Raiders sign rookie Jackson Powers-Johnson, contract details revealed
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Las Vegas Raiders officially signed rookie Jackson Powers-Johnson to his four-year deal, the team announced in a release on Monday. Powers-Johnson inked for four years, $8.767 million on a deal that’s fully guaranteed. His signing bonus is an estimated $3.196 million. He was the last of the team’s eight draftees to ink his rookie contract.

The Raiders drafted the talented center with the No. 44 overall selection in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft out of Oregon. After playing out his rookie deal, Powers-Johnson will either sign an extension with the Raiders or test the free agency market after the 2027 NFL season.

The former Oregon star grew up as a fan of the Raiders, making his signing a full-circle moment.

“It’s humbling,” Powers-Johnson said. “The first NFL game I ever went to was a Raiders game and there’s just so much rich history of just people who are just absolutely nuts and just want to get after it and that’s how I play. So I think it’s just a great fit for me. Then just being able to put on these colors, put it on the helmet, put it on my chest, is a truly a dream come true.”

“If you buy into the logo on the front, it’s going to bless the name on the back,” he added. “So I’m just excited to play for the Raiders. I’m excited to be a Raider. I’m really excited. The autumn wind is a pirate. I love it.”

Raiders shore up offensive line with Powers-Johnson selection

Powers-Johnson was the recipient of the 2023 Rimington Trophy, which is awarded to the most outstanding center in college football. After the regular season, he was also named as a first-team All-American by the Associated Press. As an offensive line as a whole, the group was a Joe Moore Award finalist with Powers-Johnson anchoring that effort. He allowed zero sacks in his final collegiate season.

Before Oregon, Powers-Johnson played high school football at Corner Canyon (UT) High School, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 198 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. He was the No. 13 IOL in his class, eventually entering the NFL Draft this year as one of the top centers in his class.
