Raiders' spending hits nearly $500 million with latest extension

On Saturday morning, the Las Vegas Raiders announced the extension of top tight end, Darren Waller. The deal adds $51 million to Waller's pockets, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, and now gives coach Josh McDaniels stability at the position.

Although, the 6-foot-6 hybrid receiver isn't the only Raider to see a big check. Hitting close to $500 million, Las Vegas spent a lot of money to have other big names like Davante Adams and Maxx Crosby in the Silver and Black throughout its window of playoff contention.

Here's a quick breakdown of the Raiders' spending since the signing of ex-Cardinal edge-rusher, Chandler Jones:

The deals signify Las Vegas' brain trust has confidence in the team's current standing and overall potential. Dedicating nearly half a billion dollars to six players was a decision that the Raiders made to win now, giving them the core they need to be successful throughout the McDaniels era.

The team needed to make these moves. Last season, the Raiders were eliminated in the wild-card round by the AFC champion Cincinnati Bengals. Although a success, considering the off-field problems surrounding the team, the Raiders are moving forward.

Looking to improve beyond 10-7, the Raiders are primed to do damage with their renovated roster. They have to be a better team than last, or else the $500 million will be added to the list of Raiders' struggles.
