Carson Palmer said he’d rather play for less somewhere else; he most likely will get his wish. As the Oakland prepares to cut loose the veteran quarterback, they are also setting their sight on one not too far away. According to Marc Sessler of NFL.com, the Raiders are in hot pursuit of Matt Flynn along with multiple teams. The urgency to settle the Palmer situation goes with getting a clean shot at Flynn. Palmer refuses to take a $3 million dollar pay cut, reducing his salary to $10 million a year, a bounty no NFL team would pay for Palmer. However, Palmer wants out and the Raiders need a quarterback, so the winds of change are about to blow. Sessler writes: ‘The Raiders have "legitimate interest" in acquiring Matt Flynn from the Seattle Seahawks. Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie worked for years in Green Bay, where Flynn toiled for the Packers behind starter Aaron Rodgers, so the 27-year-old passer is something of a known quantity in Oakland's front office. That leaves the Raiders in play to conceivably obtain Flynn for a mid-round draft pick, but the sticking point for Oakland is Flynn's heady $5.25 million base salary for 2013. Even if the Raiders wind up releasing Palmer, $9.34 million of his outrageous $13 million salary would count against the cap this year.’   var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});
