Found October 25, 2013 on Pro Sports Daily:
Terrelle Pryor grew up in Jeannette Pa. a big Steelers fan and a big Ben Roethlisberger fan. On Sunday the Raiders' young quarterback will "play against guys I looked up to and guys that were role models to me." And to hear him tell it he was almost a teammate to those Steelers. Pryor told Pittsburgh reporters in a conference call that Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin offered to draft him in the August 2011 supplemental draft but Pryor declined. The Ohio State alum then went to Oakland in the third round. "Mike said 'Hey I'll draft you if you want to play here' " Pryor said. "But he gave me a story about when he was down in Tampa Bay about a quarterback (Shaun King) that was there and he ended up being in the same hometown. It was just hard for him; he ended up cutting out because of all the distractions." So Pryor said he told Tomlin thanks but no thanks. "I had to say no because at a young age I didn't want to be near home...

Can the Oakland Raiders beat the Pittsburgh Steelers?

This Sunday, the Oakland Raiders (2-4) take on the Pittsburgh Steelers (2-4) at O.co Coliseum. With both teams having the same record, the loser of this weekend’s game is likely to lose their hopes for the playoffs. But after a week off for their bye, will the Oakland Raiders be ready to attack the Steelers’ strong offense? Martez Wilson (Photo credit: Dave Cariello) Oakland’s...

Raiders Sign Martez Wilson: What Does He Bring to Oakland?

The Raiders announced late last evening that they had signed OLB Martez Wilson, recently cut by the Saints so they could sign QB Ryan Griffin, and waived DT Christo Bilukidi. Bilukidi’s cut comes as a surprise after being drafted in the sixth round last year by McKenzie. Reggie has shown a tendency to cut players, even those that he drafted, if it means that the team is improving...

Don't Underestimate Impact of Martez Wilson on Oakland Raiders

Oakland Raiders G.M. Reggie McKenzie has done it again! He's come up with another hungry, talented, no-name defensive player that's going to help this Raiders defense immensely. He's done it by picking up 2011 third-round draft pick Martez Wilson off waivers from the New Orleans Saints. Before you say, "So, who's that?" you have to just trust McKenzie on this...

In-Depth Preview: Pittsburgh at Oakland

Fresh off a bye week, Terrelle Pryor and the Oakland Raiders (2-4) host the Pittsburgh Steelers (2-4) Sunday afternoon. Pittsburgh seems to have stolen a lot of the national attention coming off of two consecutive wins against the Jets and Ravens, but the numbers dictate that this should be a much better game for the Raiders than many expect. Most analysts are pointing to the Raiders’...

Raiders will play the Steelers in a sold out stadium

Today the Oakland Raiders sold out their fourth home game of the season. Oakland Raiders have now sold out 19 of their last 20 games. Get Tricky With Taiwan: Oakland Raiders Should Use Taiwan Jones on Offense

East Bay native Taiwan Jones was drafted by his hometown Oakland Raiders to become a change of pace running back. It became obvious to many that Jones would don the silver and black uniform of the Raiders because of Al Davis’ love for lightning speed. The former track star never found his bearings as an NFL running back so Reggie McKenzie decided to switch him to cornerback. During...

Former NFL head coach and current ESPN Monday Night Football analyst Jon Gruden was a special guest at Gateway Bank’s Friday tailgate event in Ocala, Florida. Smash Mouth Football: Oakland Raiders Must Get the Running Game Going Against the Steelers

Expect an old school smash mouth football game tomorrow in Oakland. Steelers Considered Raiders QB Terrelle Pryor In The 2011 Supplemental Draft

The Pittsburgh Steelers have never drafted a player in the supplemental draft, but Oakland Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor very likely could have been the first back in 2011 had the Ohio State product not declined the offer from head coach Mike Tomlin to do just that. "Mike said, 'Hey, I’ll draft you if you want to play here.' ", said Pryor during his Wednesday...

Sims looks forward to facing Roethlisberger

Oakland Raiders defensive tackle Pat Sims knows how difficult it is to sack Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. For five years the former Cincinnati Bengal tried, mostly in vain, to get Roethlisberger down. In eight games against the 6-foot-5 quarterback, Sims had 1 1-2 sacks and watched as Big Ben led Pittsburgh to a trio of playoff berths. Roethlisberger's been sacked...

McFadden hopes to get on track versus Pittsburgh

Raiders running back Darren McFadden has exceeded 52 rushing yards once this season. The outlier came in Week 2, when he had 129 yards on 19 carries. His high output came against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the bingo equivalent of a free space. He has 267 yards and two touchdowns over 69 carries, a lackluster sum due to injury or ineffectiveness. Neither has helped what McFadden...

Raiders, Steelers seek consistency at midseason

Darren McFadden's father told him there would be days like Sunday - games against physical defenses like the Steelers - and he didn't tell his son to juke anybody. "My dad always told me to go out and punish the tackler," the Raiders' running back said Friday. "It's something that always sticks in my mind when I'm running." Pittsburgh has...

Steelers Recent History Against Raiders Not So Good

Nice one here by Mike Prisuta, he of Steelers.com and many other affiliates that provide coverage on the Black and Gold, that examines the Steelers recent history with the Oakland Raiders. The matchup, as you might fail to remember due to trauma, is currently skewed toward Oakland. The Raiders have won 3 of the last 4 meetings, two in Oakland and one at Heinz Field. The...

Hritz: Steelers Versus Raiders Preview And Prediction- Week 8

By Jeremy Hritz The Pittsburgh Steelers played their best game of the season this past week against the Baltimore Ravens, winning a game of the close variety by three points, and salvaging a glimmer of hope that the season can somehow be saved.
