The Rams nabbed another outside linebacker to complete the restructuring of their outside linebacker corps with Ben Leber, previously with Minnesota. The Rams won a battle for Leber’s services (finally!) with the Seattle Seahawks. The Rams had already added two stout run defenders at OLB in Zach Diles and Brady Poppinga and now have completed the set with Leber who is solid in pass defense.
Last season, the Rams got beaten repeatedly by athletic tight ends and slot receivers over the middle. With the addition of Leber, the Rams add a 3 down linebacker who can cover tight ends and the middle of the field.
Last season, the Rams play at outside linebacker was a big weakness for the squad and so far this year, credit the Rams, they have identified the weakness and turned it around into a strength.
