INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Indianapolis has acquired Josh Gordy from the St. Louis Rams for an undisclosed draft pick in 2014.
The 5-foot-11, 195-pound cornerback has played 16 NFL games and started since signing with Jacksonville as an undrafted free agent in April 2010. Gordon spent most of that season on the Packers practice squad and played in two games late in Green Bay's Super Bowl-winning season.
He joined the Rams last season, first on the practice squad before playing in 14 games.
The Central Michigan alum was an all-Mid-American Conference selection in 2009.
Indy has been trying to fill a hole at the second cornerback spot since training camp began. Cornerback Jerraud Powers and veteran safeties Antoine Bethea and Tom Zbikowski are all expected to start for the Colts.

Trade for Colts: Needing cornerback depth having only Jerraud Powers, Justin King, and Cassius Vaughn at cornerback, the Colts sent an undisclosed late round pick to St. Louis for Josh Gordy. Gordy played 12 games, including 9 starts, for an injury plagued Rams secondary last season, but struggled, grading out as ProFootballFocus’ 96th ranked cornerback out of 109, allowing 27...
The agency that operates the home of the St. Louis Rams has submitted a revised renovation plan that it believes will put the 17-year-old stadium among the top tier in the NFL.
The 30-year lease that lured the Rams from Anaheim, Calif., in 1995 allows for the franchise to leave after the 2014 season if the Edward Jones Dome is not deemed among the top 25 percent of all NFL stadiums...
Remember Sam Bradford? People in Oklahoma do, but just about everyone else in the NFL has forgotten his name. Let’s see Heisman Trophy Winner, NFL Offensive Rookie of The Year, highly regarded first round draft pick, and hmm….Doesn’t he own the NFL completion record for a Rookie Quarterback? So with all the talk of the [...]
Eric Smith of Bleacher Report has a great writeup of the backup running back situation. As we've seen the running backs have all had moments of greatness. The question becomes: who backs up Donald Brown? Like many of you, he's got Vick Ballard on the brain:
What none of us saw coming was rookie Vick Ballard being such a big threat this soon. The fifth-round pick in April...
Colts receiver Austin Collie has now been diagnosed with at least his third concussion in less than 22 months.
Coach Chuck Pagano says Collie returned to the team complex Monday and ''felt good,'' but the team would not use him again until he was cleared to play by the team's medical staff.
Collie missed seven of the final eight regular-season games in 2010...
Hey there everyone welcome to the champ’s corner where I will keep you posted on things happening around the league and my thoughts. Now you may disagree with some of what I say, if so please debate me I love a challenge.
First off I want to talk about a particular player, one that had a stellar career in college, one whom most don’t seem to fond of, yes I’m talking about...
I don’t like to tell athletes they should retire. I wouldn’t want anyone telling me when to quit doing what I love to do, but with Collie it is more about his health than anything else.
He is so sensitive to concussions, is it really worth it to keep playing?
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Austin Collie left Sunday night’s 26-24 loss against the Pittsburgh Steelers...
Next week, the Colts will have to cut their roster down to 75 players by 4 PM ET on Monday afternoon. This is the first step in the journey to a 53-man roster, and will provide hope for a large group of young, unproven players who are fighting for their careers.
Here is my guess at who will be remaining on the Colts’ roster on Monday night.
QB: Andrew Luck, Drew Stanton...
Wide receiver Austin Collie suffered a concussion against Pittsburgh, the Colts confirmed Monday. "He came in today, felt really good, was examined by the doctors and basically is going to be day-to-day," coach Chuck Pagano said. "He felt really good coming out of the game this morning after being evaluated today." It's remains a concern for Collie, who...
