The Baltimore Ravens are trying to re-sign tight end Dennis Pitta but to do so they may need to extend nose tackle Haloti Ngata.
Contract talks have not gotten far with either player according to the Baltimore Sun’s Aaron Wilson.
The Ravens would like to lower the burden of Ngata’s team high $16 million cap hit next season. He has two years left on his deal and the Ravens would surely like to extend the 30-year-old in order to create flexibility for some of its other free agents.

One of those who free agents is Pitta but contract talks have not gotten very far. Pitta is an option to be hit with the franchise tag and if so will argue that he should be viewed as a wide receiver rather than a tight end. He has a case as over 79-percent of his snaps came from the slot.
