The Ravens hosted San Francisco 49ers wide receiver and return specialist Ted Ginn Jr. on Friday. The possibility of the former first-round draft pick leaving one Harbaugh (Jim) for another (John) is an intriguing one. The Ravens are definitely interested in adding a return specialist this offseason. In 2011, starting cornerback Lardarius Webb popped a 68-yard punt return for a touchdown in a win over the Cleveland Browns. But other than that, the Ravens produced few big returns as they struggled on special teams overall.

Ravens keep Birk, make offer to Mathis
After the departure of Pro Bowl left guard Ben Grubbs, the Baltimore Ravens answered some questions along the offensive line by re-signing center Matt Birk to a three-year contract and offered a contract to Philadelphia Eagles free agent guard Evan Mathis. Birk, 35, had contemplated retirement following the Ravens’ 23-20 loss to the New England [...]

The formula never deviates. So the Ravens took a shot at landing suddenly blossoming left guard Evan Mathis to replace Ben Grubbs...but Mathis decided to stay with Philly for 5 years at $25 million and $7 milz guaranteed...No biggie...It may have been the right player, but it was definitely not the right price for the Ravens. So now, back to the drawing board...plenty of time... Report: Alex Smith to visit Dolphins
With the 49ers having emerged as the "mystery" team interested in Peyton Manning, free agent Alex Smith has reportedly decided to explore his options.
Manning a lock in San Francisco?
Is it far-fetched to believe that the reason Alex Smith is visiting other teams because he has inside info on Peyton Manning signing with the 49ers? I think not it makes perfect sense. Alex and Peyton share a common bond, the same agent. I believe it is not a coincidence that less then 24 hrs after Peyton concludes his workouts and it is announced that there is a decision lurking...
49ers trying to sign Peyton Manning, Alex Smith’s confidence be damned
One of Jim Harbaugh’s most impressive feats as coach of the 49ers was maximizing Alex Smith’s potential. The former No. 1 pick was considered a bust prior to the season, but Harbaugh got him to limit his turnovers for the first time in his career. Several reports attributed Harbaugh’s surprising and unwavering confidence in Smith as a big reason for the turnaround. But Harbaugh...
Vince Young Expresses Interest in 49ers and No One Cares
After Peyton Manning chose the Denver Broncos and Alex Smith showing strong interest in the Dolphins, I came across this tweet from Vince Young. Apparently his sports management team tweeted that the Dolphins might be interested in Young, to which Vince responded or the 49ers.
“@DeniseWhite_EAG: How about @VinceYoung to the Dolphins? I hear rumblings? Would he be a good fit for...

Report: QB Alex Smith to visit Miami
A person familiar with the move says that San Francisco free agent quarterback Alex Smith will visit with Miami.
The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the team has not announced Sunday's meeting.
Smith's visit with the Dolphins comes after Peyton Manning worked out for San Francisco coach Jim Harbaugh last week at Duke. The 49ers are...
Manningham Heads To The Bay Area
Wide receiver Mario Manningham has agreed to a two-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Fantasy Spin:
Manningham will work in the No. 3 role behind Michael Crabtree and Randy Moss, and will also have to fight stud tight end Vernon Davis for targets - but ultimately turned down a larger role with St. Louis and Miami for a chance to win another...
49ers offered Peyton best chance to win
At the heart of each NFL franchise is a heartless machine, flawed but merciless, aspiring to completely rational prognostication.
Tim Tebow rejuvenated a franchise. The fans loved him. Sure. But they'll get over it.
Alex Smith got the 49ers further than they had been in 14 years. Yes. So?
It's kind of like your fantasy team. Neither flesh nor feeling is supposed to enter...
49ers Coach Jim Harbaugh, QB Alex Smith Reportedly 'Ironing Things Out'
Perhaps the relationship between quarterback Alex Smith and the San Francisco 49ers is still salvageable after all. Matt Maiocco, who covers the 49ers for Comcast SportsNet Bay Area, reports that Smith and head coach Jim Harbaugh are ironing things out. Smith, who started every single game for the 49ers team that went 13-3 last year and nearly won the NFC championship, was offended...
DEVELOPING: Manning A Bronco...??? Whither Smith And Tebow...
((HT: ESPN))According to the four-letter, Peyton Manning is heading to Denver- barring something going going kerflooie in contract negotiations with agent Tom Condon. This way, Alex Smith (another Condon client) could stay with his new BFF, 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh. And it also may mean the end of Tebow-Mania in Denver...Much to the dismay of all those jersey-wearing Maniacs...
49ers QB Alex Smith Considering Changing Agents
Quarterback Alex Smith, according to a league source, is considering changing agents. Tom Condon has been Smiths agent since he was the top overall selection in 2005, and has done several contracts with the 49ers for Smith. But Condon is also the agent for Peyton Manning, the player the 49ers are now courting. Thus, it makes sense for Smith to seek different representation because...
