D's Sports Nuts:
New England Patriots
With a win today, Tom Brady passes Joe Montana for most playoff wins by a quarterback
Houston Texans at New England Patriots
How things can change after one game. The Ravens double over time win against Peyton Manning and the Broncos makes the winner of this game the top seed in the AFC. Either way the AFC championship should be a solid game, even though it will not have the star power of a Brady vs. Manning duel.
The Texans now know they have a chance to host the AFC championship game and that, I think, adds to the pressure that they feel. These two teams are not very similar but they both have talent. The main difference that I see is the mental toughness that the Patriots seem to have compared to the Texans. The Patriots lost three tough games early in the season to the Cardinals, Ravens and the Seahawks, but they didn't fold their tent and go home. The Patriots at 3-3, won nine of their last 10 games, their lone misstep against a 49er team that just whipped the Pa...

Denver, New England and Green Bay each have a future Hall of Fame Quarterback on their roster. This weekend is going to have some great QB play.
The Wildcard round brought us some pretty bad games. The marque quarterbacks were on a bye so this week should be a lot better.
Here are the quarterbacks and how they stack-up
1) Manning - Peyton Manning is the MVP...
The Texans were embarrassed by the Patriots on MNF, will the same this happen this weekend?
The Wildcard games disappointed for one reason, quarterback play. That will not be a problem this weekend. The marquee quarterbacks are off their bye weeks and are ready to lead their teams onto the field.
Here is a look at the games and my selection of the winners.
Tom Brady, New England Patriots
New England QB Tom Brady dominated the Texans for 344 yards and three touchdowns Sunday in the second round of the AFC Playoffs.Fantasy Spin:New England's hurry-up offense was just too much for Houston. Sunday Brady will play the Ravens in a rematch of last year's AFC Championship game. Brady struggled in that game (239 yards, two interceptions) but played much better when...
Hot News for QB Tom Brady
Even though Tom Brady convincingly put the Texans’ season to an end, they can look back and be proud of many things they have accomplished in 2012. But the loss in Foxborough highlighted the fact that, as improved as this squad is, they still have some work to do before they are a serious threat to New England’s dominance in the AFC. Houston has only themselves to blame for...
Two years ago, this was the scene in Foxboro after a Patriots playoff loss at home
The New England Patriots seem to be in the driver seat entering their first game of the 2013 NFL playoffs. Just over a month ago, the New England Patriots played a regular season game against their opponent, the Houston Texans and won the game 42-14. In that game, the Texans were exposed against the...
It was a game that was closer than the Monday Night blowout earlier in the year, but it still wasn't as close as it looks. With hat tricks from both Shane Vereen and Tom Brady (both had 3 TDs) the Patriots defeated the Houston Texans 41-28.The Patriots were up 38-13 in the fourth quarter before the Texans were able to pull within ten. The Patriots recovered an onside kick and...
And away we go! The weekend we all have waited for has finally arrived and now it’s time to put all the cards on the table as Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, not only go ‘all in’ but also raise the stakes in the upcoming losers walk playoff battle with the Matt Schaub led Houston Texans.
With the upcoming Texans-Patriots game, people have wondered whether the Patriots...
We thought of washed up MILFs everywhere when our own Mother of All Stats, Passer Rating Differential, got hammered like cosmo-swilling cougar Mrs. Stiffler in the divisional round. Still, Colin Kaepernick, Tom Brady and our Real and Spectacular picks rock 'n roll on.
Tom Brady was shaky early on, Wes Welker had an uncharacteristic drop, and Rob Gronkowski was nursing an injury that kept him from making any sort of impact. But Sunday night's Patriots' 41-28 AFC divisional-round victory over the Texans wasn't exactly a carbon copy of last year's heartbreaking Super Bowl loss to the Giants.
Quite the contrary, in fact, as the Patriots...
Can you win the Super Bowl without a top 6 or 7 quarterback? It’s a debate that’s been transpiring on local sports radio for about a year now. The question has played out to perfection in the Divisional Round of the playoffs this year. With the rule changes in the NFL catering to offenses I was inclined to take the better QB in every game. Having the franchise QB means...
On Sunday afternoon, with Rob Gronkowski and his injured forearm in the locker room and Danny Woodhead having long left the field, Wes Welker was still going.
He had six catches for 120 yards at the half, and he finished the game with eight catches for 131 yards. It wasn’t like many people noticed, though, with everything else that was happening. On a day that saw key injuries...
Divisional Round of the AFC Playoffs. The Houston Texans head back to Foxboro, MA for the second meeting versus the New England Patriots in 5 weeks after the initial 2012 meeting in week 14. What have the Texans learned, what new wrinkles will we see from Belichick, Brady and crew, and who will show up who may not have been so influential in the game’s outcome in December.
