INDIANAPOLIS - JANUARY 16: Ray Lewis #52 of the Baltimore Ravens looks on before taking on the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Divisional Playoff Game at Lucas Oli Stadium on January 16, 2010 in Indianapolis, Indiana. (Photo by Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images)
So as expected yesterday, the Baltimore Ravens announced that Ray Lewis would be shutting it down for the rest of the season. Could this be the last we’ve seen of Ray Lewis? At first look, it doesn’t look like anything but a standard tackle with maybe a little stinger down the arm but he doesn’t look like he’s in pain. ray lewis He’s a good linebacker, don’t get me wrong. At one point, he was one of the most feared hitters in the game, not sure that still is the case but at one point in time it was. I’ll be honest, I was never a big Ray Lewis supporter for many MANY reasons. I will say this though, you will never see me cheer for a guy getting injured the way Ray Lewis did when he knocked Rashard Mendenhall out for the season in 2008. Injuries suck…PERIOD!! I don’t think this is the last we’ve seen of Ray Lewis. I’m put my money on him returning for the 2013 NFL season because who wants their last season to be cut short in week 6 because of an injury? Even if he never puts on another football uniform again, I believe this guy will continue to be around football next season, maybe as a commentator somewhere. I mean honestly, he couldn’t be worse than LaDainian Tomlinson. So what are your thoughts? Are you a Ray Lewis fan? Will he be back? I guess the real discussion to have here is how do the Baltimore Ravens do the rest of the way? They have some pretty significant injuries to deal with now.
