Darren Sproles is inactive for the New Orleans Saints against the Oakland Raiders with an injured left hand. Sproles practiced this week for the first time since breaking his hand, but is being held out of the game Sunday. The Raiders are without their top two running backs as Darren McFadden and Mike Goodson both have sprained right ankles. Safety Tyvon Branch has his streak of 57 straight starts snapped because of a neck injury. Oakland receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey is active despite injuring his hamstring during the week.

Defensive end Cam Jordan says the Saints may have surprised others but not themselves by rattling off five victories in six games to get back to .500 after an 0-4 start. Jordan says that with Drew Brees at quarterback and talent across the roster, the Saints expected to overcome early-season struggles. New Orleans is 5-5, one game behind three teams tied for the last NFC wild-card...

Saints win relegation battle at QPR

Nigel Adkins' Southampton won 3-1 at winless QPR in a match dubbed 'El Sackico'. The futures of both managers were subject to intense speculation in the build-up to a Loftus Road encounter contested by the sides bottom and second-bottom of the standings. QPR and Southampton had conceded 49 league goals between them prior to the game and the hosts' defence was breached...

Ala. judge dismisses case against Rolando McClain

An Alabama judge has dismissed charges against Oakland Raiders linebacker Rolando McClain. Court documents show that Morgan County Circuit Judge Glenn Thompson dismissed the charges this month after McClain's accuser told prosecutors he no longer wanted to pursue the case. Keys to Victory: Week 11 vs. New Orleans

Sitting at 3-6, the Raiders’ hopes of making a run at the playoffs continue to slip with every passing week. With a matchup against the red hot New Orleans Saints, their prospects do not get any easier. Considering the struggles of both defenses, this game could easily turn into the biggest of shootouts. Accordingly so, here are the Raiders’ Week [...]

Saints Nation: Offensive Player Grades @ Raiders

The Saints were both efficient and balanced on offense in this game. 28 passes, 28 rushes. They passed for 229 at 8.2 yards per pass (thanks to 75% completions) and rushed for 153 yards at 5.5 yards a pop. The last few weeks they've gotten away from Brees throwing for 400+ yards in the interest of balance, and it's made them more explosive. This was another all around impressive...

Bengals back to even as Palmer comes to town

The Bengals are back to the break-even mark as they get ready for a reunion. Carson Palmer is returning to town. The Bengals (5-5) have gotten back into playoff contention by playing their best games of the season back-to-back. They've beaten the defending Super Bowl-champion Giants 31-13 and the lowly Chiefs 28-6 in the last two weeks, emerging from a four-game losing streak...

Saints Nation: Saints Raid Oakland, Cruise to 38-17 Win

Just like that, the Saints are back to .500. After starting the season 0-4, it's hard to believe the Saints are now 5-5 and right in the thick of the wild card race, but a convincing win in Oakland did just that. The Raiders look like a lost team in complete disarray, sure, but the way the Saints were able to come in and thrash them is a very encouraging sign. The defense played...

New Not Broken

At this point of the season, I’m not looking at the glass half full, or half empty. I’m just wondering who drank my beer. For the first time this season, I failed to watch the entire Raiders game. After the 3rd quarter, my heart just could not take it anymore. I had to turn it off. I knew how it [...]

The Saints…Are Coming

For the first time in a looooong time, I got to relax in the fourth quarter of a Saints game. I kicked my feet up and casually sipped a glass of red wine without even the slightest anxiety that somehow, the opposing team would find a way to mount a comeback against mine. No need for blood pressure meds, xanax, vodka or a breathing machine. After all, I was witnessing a classic...
