Found September 11, 2013 on Steel City Blitz:
Several Steelers’ beat writers tweeted out today that Pittsburgh Steelers’ quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was not at practice today. He was excused due ‘personal reasons’ but I think there is much more to this story. I have this boiled down to a few reasons why the 10th-year QB would miss practice coming off such an embarrassing loss. See if you’re on board with me here while I hash these ideas out. 1. He”s trying to find Mr. Miyagi in an effort to heal Maurkice Pouncey’s badly injured knee sooner. 2. He’s been put in charge of finding a song to replace ‘Renegade.’ 3. He’s being fitted for a full body cast. 4. He’s in Arizona asking to switch places with Carson Palmer. 5. Taking Ben Jr. to Kennywood. 6. Taking survey of other QBs on what it’s like to have time to throw. 7. Partnership with Nike allowed him to play golf with Tiger Woods today only. 8. Searching for suitable Alcoholics Anonymous that will fit Todd Haley’s needs. 9. Meeting with Art Rooney, Jr to ask question, “THIS

Pittsburgh Steelers: Is the offense doomed this season?

The Pittsburgh Steelers offense looked lousy in the season opener. The offensive side of the ball during the offseason was surrounded by various questions and concerns. Those questions and concerns have now followed the team into the regular season. The Steelers were surprised at home by the Tennessee Titans, the Steelers lost 16-9. Is the Steelers offense doomed to have a terrible...

The Steelers' success will be determined by the Offensive Line

For the last two seasons, the general knock on the Steelers was that their defense was perhaps too old to remain competitive.  They went on to field the number one defense in each of the last two seasons.  So much for being too old.  But big names such as Farrier, Hampton, Harrison, Foote, and Smith are now absent from that defense.  They’ll still give up some big plays...

Not the Best Start for Sanders

As most of you know, the Pittsburgh Steelers don’t discuss contracts during the season. With that in mind, Emmanuel Sanders will become a free agent at the end of this season since there was not extension granted to him. This doesn’t mean he won’t be a Steeler next year, but the likelihood is very slim. Unfortunately for Sanders, the opener was not the kind of debut he was...

Beachum a quick study at center for Steelers

Kelvin Beachum beat the odds to make the Pittsburgh Steelers a year ago, going from seventh-round draft pick to starting right tackle by the end of the season. Beachum finds himself facing an even more daunting task this fall: replacing Pro Bowl center Maurkice Pouncey. Beachum will start in place of Pouncey on Monday night when the Steelers travel to Cincinnati. Pouncey will have...

Steelers will start Redman in week 2

Isaac Redman was named the starting running back today by Mike Tomlin. Redman had a rough week last week, he fumbled twice and picked up eight yards on nine carries before getting benched. “Obviously he played a bad game,” Tomlin said Tuesday. “He’ll be given an opportunity to redeem himself.” With LaRod Stephens-Howling (knee) out […]

Steelers' Bell could miss a month with injury

The Steelers could be out with Le'Veon Bell their projected starting running back for considerably longer than expected. As recently as last week Bell had expressed hope of returning...

Steelers Versus Titans Sack Break Down

By Alex Kozora In weeks with multiple sacks allowed by the Pittsburgh Steelers, I’ll be breaking down each individual one, assigning blame, and keeping track of a “sack counter” for the guilty parties. And this week, with five allowed against the Tennessee Titans, was worthy of an article dedicated to it. Buckle up, this one is a bumpy ride. 1. 1st and 10, 2:06 left in the...

David Todd: Quick Thoughts – Steelers Versus Titans

By David Todd The Steelers lost their season opener to the Tennessee Titans 16-9 Sunday at Heinz Field. The Steelers took a 2-0 lead on the opening kickoff when the Titans Darius Reynaud downed the opening kickoff in the end zone after initially taking possession in the field of play and then didn’t score again until there was 1:23 left in the game. It was an incredibly poor offensive...
