According to John Keim of the Washington Examiner, the Redskins were interested in Orton when he was on waivers, but did not claim him. CSNWashington reported it was because of potential locker-room friction with Grossman. One league source said it was as much salary related (Orton would have been owed $3 million for one month’s work). By signing Orton, clearly a cheaper alternative than Peyton Manning, it would enable the Redskins to focus elsewhere in the draft – and still have a good chunk of change to spend in free agency. They likely would still draft a quarterback, if they view Orton as a one or two year guy, then maybe it could work – especially if they upgraded the receiving corps to pair with a less error-prone QB.

Todd Haley: Occasional Non-Butthole

Steelers already squander Haley’s “one shower per team” quota. Camarogate continues in Yinzburgh, as Todd Haley was introduced yesterday as the Steelers new offensive coordinator. Meanwhile, THE BEN, who has still yet to meet Haley, presses on with his painstaking investigation into whether Todd is GOOD PLAYCALL HOBO or BAD MAN. Based on their individual pasts,...

Hire of Todd Haley Will Change Steelers Offense for the Better

The hire of Todd Haley to replace Bruce Arians as offensive coordinator is surely a sign that changes are coming to Pittsburgh. Haley, who was the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs for the past two seasons, will bring a run-oriented game plan to the Steelers offense. He went 19-26 with the Chiefs. Haley was a coordinator for 10 years before being hired as a head coach. He was...

Daboll Hire Must Work in KC

When the Kansas City Chiefs ultimately chose their new offensive coordinator, Brian Daboll, fans weren’t sure how to react to the news that became official on Monday. But one thing is absolute, this hire has to yield immediate results.

Could ‘good cop, bad cop’ routine work with Coaches Tomlin and Haley?

Rarely do I write outside the bounds of a strictly news-based article filled with facts, stats or interviews.  However, with the addition of Todd Haley as the new offensive coordinator for the Steelers, a lot of talk has been spreading around the sports world as to whether Haley was the best choice for that position or not.  The truth is, that remains to be seen. John Mehno of ...

Haley: Steelers scheme will be built to succeed, score

Todd Haley wasted little time assuring everyone that the Steelers offense he will run will do whatever is necessary to win. If that means throwing the ball like he did when he was the offensive coordinator with the Arizona Cardinals, fine. If that means running the ball like he did in 2 1/2 seasons as coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, that's fine, too.

Can Todd Haley and Big Ben co-exist?

So far in this new off-season the Pittsburgh Steelers have seen a lot of action occurring in the coaching department. Former offensive coordinator Bruce Arians first “retired,” in reality the front office didn’t renew his contract due to his pass happy offensive scheme, and now has the same role with the Indianapolis Colts under first year head coach Chuck Pagano. Furthermore...

Steelers formally introduce Todd Haley at press conference

Today was the day, the one that the Steeler Nation has been waiting for, just what would Todd Haley say in his first formal press conference? How would Mike Tomlin introduce his new coordinator? How many times would Haley be asked about working with Ben Roethlisberger or asked to speak about his emotional coaching style? All those questions were answered as Haley took the stand after...

Steelers Introduce Todd Haley

The Steelers held a press conference today to introduce Todd Haley.  Coach Tomlin spoke first and said “Needless to say, we’re extremely excited.”  Even after all the rumors about Tomlin not wanting to hire Haley and it being the Rooney’s decision he seemed like he bought in more and more the longer he spent with Haley.  So even if he was not all for it in the...

Haley's portfolio loaded with candor, feistiness

If the Steelers wanted an offensive coordinator who will be tough on quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, they found the right person in Todd Haley. As an offensive coordinator with the Arizona Cardinals, Haley often got into arguments and in-your-face debates with some of his top players, including star quarterback Kurt Warner.

Roethlisberger: I've heard 'both good and bad about (Haley)'

Now that Todd Haley officially has been introduced as the Steelers' new offensive coordinator, quaterback Ben Roethlisberger has a few questions about the direction of the team's offense.
