The Washington Redskins announced this morning they have signed free agent QB Colt McCoy to a contract. McCoy would presumably join the team as a third quarterback, playing behind starter Robert Griffin III and first backup Kirk Cousins, both 2012 draft picks. McCoy, who won’t turn 28 until the first week of September, enjoyed a glorious career as the quarterback at the University of Texas before being drafted in the second round by the Cleveland Browns in 2010. Playing on a bad Browns team, McCoy started eight games as a rookie, completing almost 61% of his passes for  6 TD and 9 INT. He started 13 games in 2011, completing 57% of his passes for over 2700  yards, 14 TD and 11 INT. However, his yards per pass declined to a dismal 5.9 and his passer rating of 74.6 was not an improvement over his rookie year.
