Even though everyone now knows the San Francisco 49ers lied when they leaked out the information that they had a deal in place to trade Alex Smith, they’re still confident they can trade him, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. San Francisco has found a legitimate amount of interest, according to sources. The Kansas City Chiefs are interested and the Arizona Cardinals also are thought to be. There is no deal in place right now, sources said. The 49ers are now telling everyone they’re confident because they’re once again trying to paint the picture that teams are interested in trading for Smith in order to increase the small amount of leverage they currently have.
