Assault charges were scheduled to be filed on Friday against Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant, NFL.com reported. Captain Ron Smith of the DeSoto, Texas, police department told NFL.com that the charges will be Class A misdemeanor charges for assault causing bodily injury and family violence. The charges resulted from a Saturday incident when his mother, Angela Bryant, called 911 and said that her son had assaulted her. She told police that during an argument with her son, he grabbed her by the shirt and hit her in the face with a ball cap. After charges are filed, the Dallas County district attorney's office will review the charges.

Former Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach understands that the times have changed from when he played in the NFL. It's much more difficult for current Cowboys coach Jason Garrett to kick a player off the team than it was for Tom Landry to do the same when Staubach was playing.

There are so many ways I could go with this story about the Cowboys’ Dez Bryant attacking his mother, but I’ll choose this one; NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has been anything but consistent when handing out fines and suspensions, but he needs to get this one right or risk losing the ounce of respect fans around the league still have for him. If Goodell is going...
