With Peko, Denver added one of the best interior linemen in the league. Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

General manager John Elway and the Denver Broncos apparently aren’t done fortifying the trenches for the upcoming season. After adding offensive linemen Menelik Watson and Ronald Leary earlier in free agency, Denver has reportedly signed long-time Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Domata Peko.

Peko, an 11-year NFL veteran, doesn’t provide a whole bunch from a pass-rush standpoint. He’s recorded a grand total of 18.5 sacks throughout his career.

Instead, the former Michigan State standout has made a career of stuffing the run. He’s anchored a good Bengals defensive line for the better part of the past decade. That’s no small feat in today’s NFL.

It’s a move the Broncos had to make in order to overcome the loss of former first-round pick Sylvester Williams, who signed a three-year deal with the Tennessee Titans on Friday.

As Klis notes, Denver also added former Indianapolis Colts defensive tackle Zach Kerr, who has started eight games over the past two seasons. Though, he’s nothing more than an depth add.
