Report: Buccaneers exercise fifth-year option on Pro Bowl LB Devin White

Devin White is just 24 years old, yet already has a Pro Bowl honor on his list of accomplishments, plus he's led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in tackles in each of the last two seasons. On Wednesday morning, the linebacker is reportedly set to officially extend his stay in Tampa for at least two more years.

White was taken with the fifth-overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and recorded 91 tackles and four fumble recoveries for 112 yards and two touchdowns as a rookie, while adding three passes defended, three forced fumbles and 2.5 sacks as well. In 2020, White posted career highs in tackles (140), tackles for loss (15), sacks (9.0) and passes defensed (four), was named Second-Team All-Pro and added 38 tackles and two interceptions in three playoff contests as the Bucs raced to a Super Bowl title.

The LSU product played and started in all 17 contests in 2021 and registered 128 tackles, a career-best 18 quarterback hits, 3.5 sacks and three passes defensed.

A Springhill, La., native, White is joining a growing list of 2019 draft selections to recently get their fifth-year options picked up. They've included Brian Burns of the Carolina Panthers, Ed Oliver of the Buffalo Bills and Quinnen Williams of the New York Jets, among others.
