For those holding out hope that the Buccaneers would sign veteran defensive ends John Abraham or Dwight Freeney, stop hoping for it as the team will not be adding either of them to the roster.  In a published report by Mark Cook of PewterReport.com, sources informed Pewter Report that the team has no interest in either All-Pro defensive end. Among many factors, their profile and salary demands are part of the reason. The fact that a Freeney or Abraham would be expected to start based on the salary and high profile of each player is also a factor in not signing one of the two. Tampa Bay is confident that Da’Quan Bowers and Adrian Clayborn can attain the same results – or even better numbers – than Freeney and Abraham. The organization views adding either player as a deterrent to the growth and development of Bowers and Clayborn, two players that the Buccaneers spent high draft picks on. Clayborn was a first-round pick in 2011 and Bowers was drafted in the second round of that year. Back in February, the Bucs made it clear they were going to put all their faith in Da’Quan Bowers to play as a full-time starter in 2013. As noted then, the team didn’t draft Bowers in the second round to be a career backup at defensive end. Both he and Clayborn were drafted to be the two ends Tampa Bay would eventually start together. That time is now so it comes as no surprise that the Bucs have no interest in either Abraham or Freeney. The post Report: Bucs not interested in Freeney or Abraham appeared first on The Bay Cave.
