Pro Football Talk reports that league sources have informed him that the Chiefs are prepared to release RT Eric Winston. Winston, 29, was a cap casualty by the Texans last year. The Chiefs wound up signing Winston to a four-year deal worth $22 million. This will free up $3.5 million in cap space and saves them $5.5 million in cash, according to Brian McIntyre. Despite being released twice in as many years, Winston has actually been a very solid tackle. He joins a very deep group offensive tackles, and the fact that he plays on the right side of the line isn’t going to help his chances of securing another decent contract. Kansas City just used their franchise tag on Brandon Albert, so it know seems as though taking an offensive tackle like Luke Joeckel or Eric Fisher is in play for them at No. 1 overall.
