Former Oakland Raiders receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey will visit the Detroit Lions on Wednesday according to Dave Birkett of The Detroit Free Press. Heyward-Bey recently also took a visit to the Indianapolis Colts.
The Lions have had a great off-season thus far, signing running back Reggie Bush and safety Glover Quinn among others. One of the question marks though is a reliable second receiving option other than Calvin Johnson. While Heyward-Bey has underachieved since being selected with the 7th overall pick back in the 2009 NFL Draft, one thing you cannot teach players is speed. And with Heyward-Bey running a reported 4.30 40 back at the combine, he certainly possesses that aspect.
We’ll have to see what the asking price for Heyward-Bey is and whether or not the Lions are willing to make an offer. Adding him could make the new greatest show on turf, that much more explosive.

Raiders part ways with one of the best to play the game.
Shane Lechlers departure had to happen, it just had to. It had to because first Shane made it happen, and to his defense Im sure he wanted his perennial pro bowl effort to make an impact on a team that could actually contend for a championship. It also had to happen because its just one more of Al Davis' jewels that...
The search in Detroit for a compliment to Calvin Johnson at wide receiver is in full swing, at the same time interest in former Raiders receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey is also heating up. DHB met with the Colts earlier this week, and is now scheduled to visit the Lions.

Jared Veldheer may be making better use of the NFL offseason than anyone else. The Oakland Raiders offensive lineman has been working out with strength coach Mark Ehnis, and whatever they’re doing is definitely working.
Ehnis tweeted a picture Monday of four of his students in the gym. Veldheer stands out immediately because of his hulking size. Just look at him. He’s wider...
The Oakland Raiders officially announced today that they’ve released defensive tackle Tommy Kelly.
The Raiders today have released Tommy Kelly. The club appreciates his service, dedication and toughness.

Kelly was a very good player for the Raiders, but they couldn’t afford to keep him and he’s not getting any younger.
"As noted Monday, it's possible that we may have seen the last of Carson Palmer in an Oakland Raiders uniform, as it's "highly unlikely" that the QB will take a pay cut, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. The Raiders now have three options: hang on to Palmer and pay him his $13 million for 2013, trade him or release him (ESPN)."
According to Clarence Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, if the Oakland Raiders liked what they saw from Vince Young at today’s pro day at the University of Texas, they might bring him in for a work out.
Per a source the raiders would consider bringing vy in for a workout if he had a good day. We will see if that happens. But it was good step

The Detroit Lions really stole the show on the second day of 2013 NFL Free Agency with the re-signing of CB Chris Houston and additions of ex-Seahawks DT Jason Jones, ex-Dolphins RB Reggie Bush and ex-Texans safety Glover Quin.
Albeit Detroit has been very quite on the open market since then (only re-signing center Dylan Gandy and safety Louis Delmas and announcing the retirement...
He hasn't scored a touchdown or even played a down yet for the Detroit Lions.
But running back Reggie Bush, a recent free-agent addition, already has a steak named after him at Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse in Birmingham, Mich.
It's called the "Reggie Bush Ribeye" -- a 22-ounce "Bone-in Ribeye" -- and is being promoted by the restaurant as "Our Featured...
Detroit head coach Jim Schwartz says running backs Joique Bell and Mikel Leshoure will still be part of the Lions offense, according to a report from detroitlions.com, but we don't see how.Fantasy Spin:Bush figures to be the starter and the pass receiver and Leshoure should get the short yardage and goal line work. Barring injury, that obviously would leave Bell, who caught 52...
The Detroit Lions are set to host wide receiver Darius Heyward-Bey
today, according to Dave Birkett of The Detroit Free Press.
Birkett points out that the Lions are in need of a wide out
that can stretch the field opposite All-Pro Calvin Johnson. Heyward-Bey is
known for his speed, as it’s what had most to do with him being selected

To go from the playoffs to 4-12 in one season, some individual performances had to regress significantly.
To go back the other way -- and return to contention in 2013 - the Detroit Lions will need certain players to make a turnaround.
Here are five who could have a major impact if they can take their production to a higher level:
1. Cornerback Bill Bentley

This is hands down the dumbest reality show in existence, but I can't help but search for recaps and highlights after every show (so they must be doing something right).
Anyway...the latest contestant to go will undoubtedly receive a whole lot of grief in the locker room during the NFL season. Yes, folks, Detroit Lions defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh was eliminated in last...
